No damn lie,

One of my close friends still lives like he's in his early 20s. Smoking and drinking gaining hella weight. When bro sleeps he legitimately stops breathing, he snores heavily and I think it's due to him being over weight in his late 20s.

If he's not gonna lift, he should at least do cardio and not that walking BS. If he's gonna walk he should walk on an incline.

Sleep Apnea- he can easily die in his sleep at anytime (not kidding)- he needs to drop weight asap and possibly get a cpap machine

My brother has one of those machine to sleep with that gives him oxygen. Still, it took years before he changed his diet and lost weight. Still, never saw him do any level of working out in my life

Breh, I don’t exercise and I eat crap. I’ve only just began weight training, HIIT, bodyweight training, long distance running, swimming, Muy thai and BJJ training. I also began only eating lean proteins, whole grains and greens with the occasional fruits or fats. No sugar outside of fruit

I’m gonna get fit breh. Spring 2019 these women better be ready for Temby and his six pack :wow:

Na 100% there should be a progressive overload in any exercise over time. That’ll usually kick that “not doing enough” habit. Walk a little bit longer, or a quicker pace and eventually you’ll realize shyt is too easy because you got your shyt together. Always measure, but don’t marry the numbers: they just hold you accountable.

I say kinda the same, in that there are no shortcuts, and the only way through it is straight through it, but imo the difficulty is in consistency at the start and having a sound plan in the first place. If you have a goal and know what it takes to get there, you just have to stick to the plan regardless of results. So many ppl I know fall off the wagon because they try to undo a decade of bad habits in a season, and get disappointed when the results aren’t that fast. You gotta fall in love with the process and the results will follow. Then it’s just a lifestyle

But once you’re in shape, it’s so much easier to maintain than to get back/up to it in the first place.
Yeah it's hard, I feel for those that weren't blessed with good genetics or just don't have the habit. As black men we don't have the luxury of not being healthy. Health care professionals are always writing us off or just prescribing hella meds that don't fix the problems, just maintain them.

We tell him that, but my guy keeps on making excuses. I really worry about his health and quality of living because we all know what's to come if he doesn't get right soon.

It's so hard to break bad habits.

Above the fray.

Your heart is in the right place, but you have to accept reality about your man. If you grew up together and he wasn't active & health conscious in your youths & primes, chances of him making changes to improve health now aren't good.

Yeah man, I don't wanna believe it or accept it but it's gonna happen sooner or later.

I found out another friend was diagnosed with a cancer they found in his blood. He's overweight and on that body positivity foolishness too. The good thing about him is he doesn't smoke but bro can't put down the cheese papusas even after the doctor told him he needs to watch his weight, diet and activity levels.

Just started back in the beginning of August from a two year hiatus from the gym. After I seen how I looked when I was at my destination wedding in the pool I was like yo that’s definitely not me. nikka had a dad bod and was putting married weight on. I was like fukk all this I need to get back to that 2019 physique. Since I’m starting out I’ve been doing 5 sets of 15 with lower weight and increasing slowly once I get stuck at a weight that I can’t do 5 sets of 15 I’ll usually drop the reps to 10 and start doing 5 sets of 10 and get a routine of doing heavier weight at 5 sets of 10 reps then once I get stuck on a weight that I cant do 5 sets of 10 of then it’s 5 sets of 5 routine with heavier weight.

It’s crazy how in a month I’m starting to see it slowly come back. My body loves being in the gym.
