They refuse to release the video to the public

I believe they have to follow the orders of the law enforcement agencies of the cities they are operating in. In this case the prosecutors are saying that releasing it will taint a jury, so Walmart can't go against them and release it anyway.

They can, they're choosing not to.

They already showed the video to the witness to help him change his story.

If the video showed our brother loading bullets into a real rifle, and then pointing it at people while uttering threats it would be a different issue and the video would have been released same day it happened..same as with Mike Brown.

These cops are people who normally release all records and footage etc and make statements with supposes 'facts' in order to quickly demonize the victim, but this time they wont release shyt???tells you exactly whats up.

Ohio Special Grand Jury Begins Investigation Into Fatal Police Shooting of John Crawford III in Wal-Mart Parking Lot

Ohio Special Grand Jury Begins Investigation Into Fatal Police Shooting of John Crawford III in Wal-Mart Parking Lot

About 100 people rally in support of John Crawford Jr. and his family in their pursuit for answers into the Aug. 5 shooting of John Crawford III, in Beavercreek,, Ohio, Monday, Sept. 22, 2014. The rally coincides with the selection of the special grand jury that will consider evidence and decide whether any criminal charges should be filed in the fatal police officer-involved shooting. (AP Photo/The Daily News, Ty Greenlees)

A special grand jury began hearing evidence Monday in the racially charged case of a fatal police shooting inside a Wal-Mart store.

No timetable has been made public on how long it will take to present evidence to the Greene County jurors or how long it might take for them to make a decision on whether anyone should face charges in the shooting of 22-year-old John Crawford III.

Some 20 people were outside the courthouse Monday morning to pray for “a peaceful process.” Dozens of others gathered outside the Wal-Mart store in the Dayton suburb of Beavercreek and later walked about 11 miles to the courthouse in Xenia for an afternoon rally where several speakers called for “justice for John Crawford.”

Crawford, who was black, was shot by police Aug. 5 while holding an air rifle his family said he’d taken off a store shelf. Two white police officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man waving a gun. Police have said Crawford was shot after he didn’t obey the officers’ commands to put the weapon down.

Crawford’s family said he was there shopping and did nothing to warrant being shot.

The family and supporters including the president of the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus and the Rev. Al Sharpton have pushed for public release of store surveillance video. State Attorney General Mike DeWine has refused, saying it could compromise the investigation and taint a potential jury pool. DeWine named a veteran Hamilton County prosecutor, Mark Piepmeier, to take the case to the grand jury.

The family and other supporters also want federal authorities to investigate whether race was a factor in the shooting.

On Monday, a handful of demonstrators stood on a street corner outside the courthouse with signs critical of authorities’ handling of the case, with messages such as “Justice 4 All” and “Toy Guns Don’t Kill People Cops Do.”

At least 80 Crawford supporters joined them after walking from the Wal-Mart. Many wore black T-shirts bearing Crawford’s name and “Release the Tape.”

One speaker, Jovan Webster, said the lives of young black men and women “who have done nothing wrong” are too often cut short by police.

“Justice for John Crawford,” Webster shouted as the crowd cheered.

James Hayes, an organizer of the Columbus-based Ohio Student Association, said they want the police officers indicted on criminal charges.

Prentiss Haney, from the association’s Wright State University chapter, said the group will continue rallying outside the courthouse as the grand jury meets this week.

“We believe this is not just a problem in this area, but a national problem deeply rooted in racism that has plagued black and brown lives in our country,” Haney said.

Several people also came to the courthouse to pray.

“We are praying for a peaceful process,” said the Rev. LeRoy Anthony, pastor of Middle Run Baptist Church in Xenia. “We don’t want things that have happened in other communities with similar situations to happen here.”

Ohio Student Association march the 11 miles from Beavercreek Wal-mart, where John Crawford was murdered, to the Courthouse in Xenia Ohio to demand justice! there were over 100 marchers and over 200 people attended the press conference.

So many powerful moments were held during this event. The group of marchers held a Die-in right on the courthouse to represent the lives lost due to police violence, particularly the people of color’s lives lost. Our demands are simple, we want justice and the public release of the wal-mart video tapes of the killing of john crawford.

We were brought together by tragedy, but left with our spirits uplifted and a sense of togetherness and community and most importantly love and commitment to each other and the struggle. We must fight, we must organize, and we must agitate!

For more information about the story :@ohiostudents or like the ohio student association on Facebook!
