I'm a 6th generation African American that traced both sides of my family to the 1870 census and slavery oldest traceable relatives were 1806. And I have african American mom dad cousins uncles aunts brothers sisters and great great great greats. And I'm telling you we don't have the same heritage. Also the things you witnessed at home with your Ethiopian mom are not indicative of AA relationships and your brothers who watched it and took after it aren't indicative of AA's either. Iiwii

Idk, I was raised African American by my father and all of my siblings are African American and I consider myself African American. I don't really think you can judge me based on my mother's heritage and culture which I didn't even grow up in.

You can speak some I guess if you were not raised by your mom. But even so, when you make your homage to Ethiopia and embrace certain things about yourself, which I hope you do if not already, that difference will be very evident. You don't really know what it's like not to have that touchstone so to speak. You probably shouldn't be so harsh in your judgments.

You sound like some sort of cac troll. If Obama, VJax, and the rest can be considered AA, then @Elle Driver is definitely AA too. I notice cacs have an interest in splitting black people's interest. Divide and conquer.

The real privilege being bandied about in this thread is black nationalist privilege imo.

That's really my choice in what culture I identify with, but yes I agree with you, my disconnect is different. My Ethiopian side never embraced me, and I have always been a daddy's girl and close to that side. They raised me predominately especially after my pops passed so I feel an affinity towards African Americans more than anything else. :ld:

Obama mixed cmon. We are all black and we share in how cacs treat us, but we share more experiences than that. AA like to coalition build and it's good, but we shouldn't lose who we are in the process.
