RIp Holocost! I didn't know him that well however. We met during the Supreme Clientele recordings at 36 chambers studio when I was recording my debut album. Ghost recorded during the day until evening, then the Black Knights would get a beat for that evening from RZA and the sessions would go on until the early hours. This is how I ended up on Woodchuck and the Clinton Sparks joint. Holocost was there every night, and they were staying at an apartment near Central Park where I'd go to hang out before we could head into the studio. Holocost seemed different then already. He was walking with a dragging leg, Beretta had told me he'd been hit by a bus in Tokyo where he'd holidayed by himself. 9th or someone then told me the story of the fight he had with him when he was stinking up the place cause at this time he was walking around with a parrot on his arm and the bird was shytting all over him. And then there was the story of Cost jumping out of an apartment window naked due to some bad angel dust (digi digi). I tend to believe that when they hung around RZA as Bobby Digital the angel dust damaged him badly, especially mentally. I then didn't hear from him in a long time, and when the first Killa Beez tour came up in 2002, I reached out to him, he picked up the phone, peace bruv it's Ringz, RINGZ! YO CHECK THIS! and he immediately pressed play on a track I had to listen to for 5 minutes. I literally didn't get a word in. When the song was finished I was like yo Cost check it, I got this tour- YO CHECK THIS ONE. And bam, he played another track. After three tracks I just hung up and haven't spoken to him since. I wanted him on the tour but alas. Priest had a funny story about him on my DVD. And I guess it's all funny, but at the same time, it's all quite sad cause the brother was talented and to hear he was declining mentally is a sad thing. I never actually knew he used my beats from a beat CD until they came out. We spoke about it once but I can;t recall the convo. All good though. Blessings to his loved ones, rest easy to the legend.

It's crazy. I listened to alot of his projects hoping he could recapture the gift and I was always left disappointed. Left with a few glimpses of the old gift but it never returned. :wow:

Okay. Him doing dust alot with RZA is not a fact but what Ringz said he believes.

I doubt RZA was on dust hard on that album. It has that theme, and coined Digi but I doubt it.

I know RZA did say in his autobiography he did mess with dust after the game. Who knows.

Ringz disrespected him by "hanging up the phone and never talked to him since"

After Holocaust played him exclusives?

It's scary, like he gave up on him instead of helping him out or getting him help.

Is Ringz still cool with RZA after that silver box sale?

He literally said RZA was dusted cause it's what Ringz believed.

@BuddahMAC

you be having all the back stories on the Wu and Wu affiliates

what's Holocaust's/Warcloud's story?

what part of California was he from?

i knew of him like everybody else after the Holocaust verse and his various other Wu affiliated verses and then his first two solo albums from back in the day but other than that, not much else. Even once everything went more internet based, he wasn't really out there like that so trying to learn more about his story become more and more like folklore and mystery to some degree

i stopped checking for his albums after his first two solo albums but on occasion I would listen to a new song or feature whenever he would pop up over the years, but things were never the same after his late 90's verses and the early 2000's verses on them Wu affiliated albums (The Swarm and The Sting)

old interview of his from 2002 that i found on a forum

October 7th, 2002:

X-Calibur: Do you wanna start off by introducing yourself?

Alcatraz: My name is Alcatraz, Warcloud, Frank Holocaustal.

X: Where did the names Alcatraz and Warcloud come from?

A: Those always were my names.

X: Were you happy with the sales of your two internet releases?

A: Uhhh...Yeah!

X: When will the "Alcatraz Jigsaw Puzzle" LP be released?

A: I'm not sure yet.

X: Are you still working on "The Escapism"?

A: Nah, nah, nah. I quit that project. The "Alcatraz Jigsaw Puzzle" is finished, I just haven't released it yet.

X: Are you planning on releasing that album over the internet or are you gonna wait 'til you get on a label?

A: I don't know how exactly I'm going to do it yet, really.

X: Why did you leave the Black Knights?

A: Oh, because we didn't get along, we got into too many arguments.

X: How did you hook up with North Star?

A: Oh, with North Stars?

X: Yeah.

A: We all used to know each other, we all used to kick freestyles together. Black Knights Of The North Star.

X: Are you gonna be on the North Star album?

A: I don't know. I did some tracks with 'em, but I don't know if they're gonna use those tracks, I dunno.

X: There was rumors that you've done a track with Killah Priest, can you give us some more information?

A: I've done tracks with Killah Priest. I've done tracks with the whole
Wu-Tang before, it's just they haven't been released. RZA isn't choosin' to release 'em, but I've done tracks with every Wu-Tang member before.

X: Which emcees are you feelin' right now?

A: Nobody. I'm only really feelin' my own shyt right now.

X: What's your favorite Wu-album?

A: "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx."

X: Who in the Wu are you most close to?

A: The RZA.

X: What inspired you to become an emcee?

A: I started writing poetry in 3rd grade, but I didn't really start takin' it seriously 'til I was a Sophomore at high school.

X: How did you hook up wit' Skarekrow?

A: I known him for years.

X: Do you have any more tracks from your Holocaust era and will you ever spit a Holocaust-style verse again?

A: Well, that style is called Mixed Forest Zone. I might feature it again. The new style is called Old Jail Pajama Room.

X: Do you have a favorite track that you've done?

A: Probably "The Last Hovering Castle."

X: Do you have any favorite verses that you've done?

A: I don't know. My verses from "Smugglin' Booze In The Graveyard", and "America", "America" got good verses too.

X: Are you planning to appear on any upcoming Wu-albums?

A: Not that I know of, unless they use the tracks we did before.

X: Which of your styles do you personally prefer?

A: I personally prefer Old Jail Pajama Room as to Mixed Forest Zone, because I felt I needed to get out of the woods a little bit and bring it down to a street level, underground hip hop style feel.

X: There were rumors of a beef between you and 9th Prince, can you tell us more about that?

A: Yeah, I fought him one time, and whooped his ass. He setted on me, and I fought him for half-an-hour, we got into it. But we been cool ever since that, that was years ago. We did get into a bloody fight one time in Manhattan.

X: I heard he jumped you from behind.

A: Yeah yeah, he did jump me from behind, but I whooped his ass. My leg's always been good since I was a kid. I still whooped him for half-an-hour, and he didn't want none. I kept putting him down and putting him down, but he kept getting back up. I mean, he's like three times the size of me.

He kept getting back up and back up, but I kept putting him back down and back down, I mean, it was a bloody battle for half-an-hour. At the end, he bowed down, and I ain't have a problem with him after that. We used to be real good friends before that though. We still pretty good friends now.

X: Do you have any advice for aspiring MC's and producers?

A: Practice makes perfect.

X: So how did you hook up with Wu-Tang?

A: Years ago, I met them at a Unity in '98, no, '97.

X: What Monstar Mob projects are you workin' on?

A: Right now I'm just doing my underground thing with the Weapons Factory, and we're shoppin' a solo deal and I'm not really willing to put a foot behind it until I finish my underground album.

X: That's all the questions I got.

A: Well you have a swell day now, peace.

X: Peace.
