I had this happen to me once at Wal-mart. What people don't know tho is they can't take you in for theft unless you walk out the door. Since I had some manager following me and my 2 friends around we grabbed stuff we was gonna buy anyway, and just stuck it in our backpack and purses. They didn't know if I had the intention to pay or not which is why they can't confront you while walking around the store. I used to work loss prevention and in order to build a strong case for prosecution the person doing the crime must make an attempt to leave the store with unpaid items.
