Rise up!
Still prolly ain't gon help with Pickett though lol, but yeah, this was a long time coming.
Right Pickett is ass but there’s no reason he can’t be a great value Goff (in the Lions offense). Pittsburgh needs an effective run heavy offense like Detroit to keep that goofy from ruining the games and utilize their two backs better

What did Tomlin see in this dude?

Maybe cuz Canada recruited his son to Maryland :manny: and after that, became vertically integrated in the org by tying the WR, RB and other positional coaches to him as people he worked with. Shyt be all about relationships most of the time end of the day.

I am stunned they pulled the trigger. The Steelers way is to NOT do stuff like this during a season.

I am glad they did it. Should have been done years earlier. As much as I want to blame Pickett and he has been trash.. this offense was bad with Ben too. Ben was in the twilight of his career but he could still sling the rock. He was winning games despite Canada because he would go hurry up and call his own plays. He literally backyard balled the team to a winning record and a Wildcard berth.

Move definitely came from ownership
I don't know... I'm not as immersed into Steelers culture but the vibe I get from their ownership is that they don't interfere with anything coach/day-to-day related unless their hand is ABSOLUTELY forced, and it's rarely been forced as the team, on its worst day, is middle of the pack at the end of the year.

It's possible that the Rooneys had enough, but part of me thinks that Najee's voice really carries weight like that, especially given that his entire vibe has always been team first (I've read in the past that Najee was identified as the guy that the Heywards/Watts of the world were to pass the torch of leadership and representation of "The Standard" to).

The decision came from team president Art Rooney II after watching the Steelers average just 16.1 points in 10 games and seeing quarterback Kenny Pickett struggle to develop in his second season.

Normally I would agree with you but this appears to be the one rare instance when Ownership did make the call. They typically do not do this
