I'm not going to go into details of what actually takes place when a person pledges.

When you pledge expect:

Physical Pain
Mental Pain
Exhaustion

Physical pain comes from the paddle, activities, or guys punches/slaps.
-You can get hit for not remembering the Greek alphabet (when you have to spit), coming late to meetings, and not remembering your frat's history
Mental Pain
-You will be humiliated, some of the humiliation involves females. Clowning your masculinity is what the females will do and you can't do any hing except sit there and take it. You will most likely be in your underwear or shorts.
-You have to share your darkest secrets. To know someone who knows something that can break you is painful.
Exhaustion
-The pledging process can last anywhere from three weeks to 4 months.
-You have to balance class, being woken up in the middle of the night, and being unable to talk to anybody outside organization socially.

The enlarged is very true. One of my best friends back in the mid 2000s during my college days tried to get me to pledge Kappa while he was doing so. I declined but he continued & after that the nygga grew distant and we rapidly became mere associates. I randomly ran into him a few times after and now he is a Mason but any organization that sways ppl into letting your real amigos go aint a Real Organization.

Because of all the fame and social power that comes from it. Especially in the black community where you have hypergamy running wild where a few % of dudes have all the broads and the fame. They ain't gonna let go of that power very easily. Even if it means sacrificing your dignity to get a taste of the fame on college campuses with hoes in it.
