Black folks...Why do we have a bunch of reverends representing us?

Its a serious handicap, we can't even move on to more serious issues because of the fools keep bringing us back into their stone age. Specifically black folks, we don't have any other form of representation other than a religious based one...its mind numbing seeing these fools on tv acting like they're educated.

Yeah, it's really troubling, I've always just taken it for what it is. Religion is a destructive force used to keep people down and passive. Hopefully we advance as a people moving forwards. Personally I'd rather see more liquor stores than churches in the hood.
Probably because reverends are more likely than the average person to be attention whores and try to get on TV the first chance they get. Plus a lot of older black folk tend to look at reverends as the leaders of their community.

Nobody asked them to speak or represent the majority of black people. they are just looking for any opportunity to take the national spotlight when things are dealing with race. Instead of leaders they should organizers.

And then when there's an eloquent black speaker of the English language, a group of black people "perceive" them to be c00ns. That doesn't make sense.
because the younger ones haven't stepped foward. we need a new type of young black leaders who aren't religious or fall for this political mess.

I feel bad for having this belief just like yourself when we get cases like with Travyon's mom and how the "I'll pray for him honestly"(about Zimmerman) comes into play. That moment with our people where we do this "I will pray for them" nonsense even for the most senseless acts and heartless people.
We need to realize how much religion is holding us back in our community. Don't get me started in the belief in this "Karma" nonsense.
