Maaaan, I been feeling that way for the longest. I been stopped checking slave movies or movies with black ddues having to sell drugs or commit robberies to survive. That story is played out to me. That's why I always liked Spike Lee films, he always comes with a different kinda stories.

btw, as I've gotten older I realize and appreciate how great of a movie Boyz-n- the Hood is and I think less of Menace 2 Society

BOyz in The Hood empathized on fatherhood and how it disciplined children. On top of community building and warning us from gentrification before it ever happened. Menace just was some crazy shyt where nikkas beat/ killed nikkas for 96 minutes and created another generation of ignorance that denounced Black Power.

What happened to the mid 90s to early 2000s when we had a stream of black movies (The Wood, Love and Basketball, Brothers, Best Man, etc). We seem to only get the slave pic or the Tyler Perry movies now. While those I listed weren't the best movies in history, it was decent entertainment and not all about the negative images. I thought those flicks made money for the studios.

Blame that Rockstar era for killing black entertainment and its originality as we know it.

on topic: The Will Smith Egypt movie will be successful....because Will Smith is in it. Even After Earth made it's mark past even, just on the strength that he was in it.

If you're going to do this kind of movie, you'll need stars, and stars cost 20 mill off top. Denzel and Will are the go to guys, altho I would really like to see Mike K Williams reach A-list status. He is very talented.
