you can't compare "rooted" culture (african influenced patois) to contemporary influences like modern music that are from outside of your culture:childplease:

I was speaking in generalities. Everything has African roots and we all know where hip hop's roots are from. The fact is you probably don't even really care about black folks to begin with because while your posting up Marcus Garvey quotes, true Pan Africanists care about the unification of black people worldwide and don't get into bullshyt debates about who is better and why considering the black community is in a bad state all over the globe regardless of who started spinning records or other trivial nonsense.

The responses in this thread from non African Americans are SO typical. You piggyback on our struggle, (like everyone else) feast on our culture, emulate us, post on forums dedicated to our art... all while you patronize, insult & turn up your collective noses at us. All things considered, the story of African Americans is one for the books & unparalleled in the diaspora.

Who came in this thread with the insults? So if we get insulted because a bunch of emotional fools who insult a whole group because of one idiotic comedian, we're not supposed to respond? Many of you are the ones who are quick to insult us for no reason, but expect us not to say anything in defense. Tough shyt.

You say we "post on your forums". And? There was a (now defunct) large black british forum some years back that had a large number of AAs, plus some british Facebook group now have a lot of AA members. So what?

Who is "piggybacking" off anything? We're black people going through the struggle just like anywhere else in the diaspora. We're not the latinos/asians/jews etc who exploit or take advantage of you. They're the ones you need to be mad at, not us.

Turn our noses up in what way?

Come out your feelings. I swear muthafukkers are so emotional. :snoop:

That wasn't just directed at one person. It's really for ignorant fools who think they know everything about us through a few videos they watch online.
I try my best not to dismiss all of you but in my eyes you're culturally European and your culture is very different than mine. I feel like Africans that aren't raised in America view American Africans as inferior to them. I think non Americans are quick to blame me for what the US government does. I have little to no influence over the feds and other people.

What you think of us is your business. :yeshrug: You're making a whole bunch of assumptions which is erroneous at best.

Who have you heard blaming AAs for the government? Cos it damn sure isn't black people.

Throughout my whole life I've never once heard black folks blame AAs for what the racist AmeriKKKan government does. That's like folks blaming us for the atrocities and colonisation and what the wicked Royal family with that old ugly grey haired reptilian bytch sitting on the throne does to non whites around the globe.....or like blaming Aborigines in Australia for what their government does. It doesn't make sense. That has fukk all to do with us.

Naw. I'm not making assumptions. I've been around enough English and non US American people in America to say my opinion is fair and firmly rooted in the truth. We don't even speak the same language as far as I'm concerned. If I spoke to you as I speak to my friends in America I find it hard to believe you'd be able to follow me. The differences in our spoken languages alone makes it hard for me to see us sharing anything other than our ethnic background.

Don't play dumb. You know as well as I do Americans are percieved as lazy and fat. Or we start all the wars. I'm not fat. I'm not lazy. And I don't even own a gun. The only president I ever voted for was a black woman.

For the record AA's, the ones who invented and powered the civil rights movement, which expanded around the world don't feel any connection to the English because you don't reach out. Same goes for the rest of the non AA African groups. If you don't want people to assume you're a cracker make it clear you're not. Lol its pretty simple. I know AA's reach out. Let's not forget about the multiple Back To Africa movements in the US.

What I think of you is your business because it involves you. Especially if you want any kind of solidarity between us as a people. You can ignore what I think and dismiss it as my opinion. That would be a mistake my man because I assure you I'm not the only AA who feels this way. As far am I'm concerned black people only exist in the America until I see receipts about what these non American Africans are doing to fight racism.

In the states we're getting gunned down everyday. Choked out everyday. Teenage girls beaten and killed in police custody. Black girls are allowed to drown in some shyt hole swamp because they were raised without shyt and were about that action. We have black people condemning teenage girls to life sentences in prison or the electric chair. I read a lot of news and I never read about the English doing anything to show they support me.

Where is your Tupac? Where is Malcolm X? Where is your Martin? Where is your Mumia? If our struggles are the same why are the leaders and face of AA empowerment everywhere African Americans?

I'm curious how you'll spin this. Give it your best go.

what makes you think that?

most black british people have BLACK CULTURE

can trace there roots back to africa, and even the exact tribe

dont eat slave food like soul food,

and dont bow down to the white mans teachings like alot of AA's

In England some of the highest performing students here are African, I went to college/university in London and the African kids were about their business their families don't play around with that shyt..You rarely see Africans in jail/prison over here either. Like this dude said most black people here have direct ties to their culture because their parents are African/Carribean, unlike in America..Got dudes in here posting pages and pages of stuff they found on Google trying to make a point :camby:

I'm not gonna try and "spin" anything, because again you're being emotional and taking out all your hurt and frustration out on me. I'm not into dikk measuring contests. You're whole entire post is filled with nothing but animosity, resentment and hostility and then you seriously wonder why you're attracting the same type of energy from people that you're clearly giving out. :smh: Whoever said all that ignorant bullshyt to you, you need to take that up with them. I've had ignorant muthfukkas from all backgrounds say ignorant shyt to me about my people, so what?

One minute we look down on and hate you so much, next minute we're ass kissing and idolising AAs. Which is it? You clearly have your own negative perceptions of us, so what's the difference? Those stereotypes about AAs come from cacs. They say Americans are fat and lazy, violent etc. Well, don't we (brits including blacks) all have bad, yellow teeth? Aren't we all ugly? Aren't we all soft? Aren't we all cultureless and worthless according to some posters on here? Don't we all speak like Prince Charles? Etc etc?

I'm not playing dumb at all. For the record, I have blood family members in the states three generations deep who are just as American as you are.

We don't reach out? Umar Johnson, Irritated Genie and many other modern leaders and groups have strong ties to British Pan African and pro black groups. Even Tariq Nasheed who this board hates has connections over here who I'm hopefully going to be seeing when he does a lecture with my family friend Robin Walker. The mere fact that your leaders have created strong ties with those of us here and that we have similar organisations is proof alone that we do "reach out".

The fact you claim that the British don't support you shows your fukking ignorance and if you BOTHERED to do your damn research you would see that's not the case. Example:

There's many AAs who have a connection to black folks here as well as the rest of europe and worldwide, speak for yourself. Just because YOU don't like us doesn't mean there aren't AAs who don't identify with us. Look up Titans TV on youtube. Kalem El(sp?) has the respect of the Pan African/ concsious community in the states and all over.

This isn't a contest to see who has suffered more. Did you cry for Stephen Lawrence (his mother actually connected with Trayvon's mother and took her to the very street her son got killed, look it up)? For Anthony Walker? Did you cry over the 13 young black children who were massacred in the 1981 fire during a house party that even our own media didn't give a fukk about and blamed us for? Did you cry over Mark Duggan who got shot by the police in 2011? Others who have been killed in police custody? Those of us who are over represented in mental health institutions? Our struggles and insurrections have changed laws over here which other racial groups have "piggybacked" and taken advantage of and benefited from, just like in the states.

Am I to blame for the atrocities AA suffer? I have family on both sides of the Atlantic who were beaten and locked up for damn near no reason at all. If I was standing on the same street corner as you anywhere in the states I'm just as likely to get my head blown off as you would, white supremacy doesn't give a fukk about my accent or where I was born. I'm just as nappy headed and melanated as you probably are.

Black Britons have ALWAYS looked up to AAs. ALWAYS. We know what your contributions have been and have always identified with it.

You say:

As far am I'm concerned black people only exist in the America until I see receipts about what these non American Africans are doing to fight racism.

Wow....

Just admit you hate us and leave it at that. It's really that simple. You have your mind made up and I'm not gonna try and change it. Thankfully every AA doesn't think like you. Neither does every black brit think like the ones you've spoken to that have had a bad effect on you. When I go to America, I get nothing but love for the most part and always diss cacs from here and the states. Cacs don't give a fukk about any of us regardless and don't want any of us to exist. That's the reality.

As far as what we've done, I'm not going to do the research for you. The information is out there. There's books like Black Britain and Staying Power which goes into huge depth about our own civil rights movements and struggles in this country and our contributions spanning back hundreds of years.
