Hell. You can say the American flag is worse because it serves as a symbol of western imperialism. From Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Iraq, Afhghanistan, Kuwait, Cuba....and the government attached to it that's put in many shadow dictators in course in third world countries to keep their governments corrupt, the imf that's helped to keep their economies failing, the military operations that were made from these to help keep US military presences in countries where it wasn't asked for it....essentially this country is worse and more powerful than the Ottoman empire, Roman empire, and any other empire the world has ever known due to its extensive military, stockpile of ballistic missiles and nuclear warheads, naval ships around counties, submarines, so on and so on. Y'all think they spend trillions on military....trillions....more than nasa and the educational system just to "preserve your freedom" and "keep you safe"?

The Confederate flag is basically symbolic now, but before it stood for a sovereign (or quasi-sovereign) state, the Blackman was suffering under the American flag. The Blackman is still suffering under the American flag long after the Confederate flag was "legitimate"
If your point is slavery, there are more Blacks in prison now than were slaves in 1850. (just type it into your search engine)
Those crack versus powder cocaine laws that specifically targeted Black communities were federal, etc...
The Black people in America that are worth a damn, want true and real, freedom justice and equality. Simply "not being chattel slaves" is of zero comfort to us. Dissatisfaction brings about change. These posts above imply some level of satisfaction in being under 1 of these flags versus the other. That level of satisfaction, no matter how small it may be, is part of the problem, and is hindering Blacks from getting our just due.

I guess I was myopic in my view of this thread. The American flag is better for me than the Confederate flag

Blacks are suffering under many flags, B. Even flags in Africa.
The American flag doesn't stand for what the Confederate flag stood for. I could've sworn there was a war about that at some point in history

The Seal of the United States has the eagle, which is nothing more than a glorified scavenger, holding 13 arrows in one claw, and an olive branch in the other. The 13 arrows represent the 13 original colonies where and when Blacks were treated like sh-t. It is supposed to mean that America is always ready for war, but truly desires peace. Black people never have and never will be at peace with white people, in America, or any where else for that matter. This doesn't even scratch the surface of the wicked hypocrisy of America, and in 2015 I should not have to explain myself in regards to how foul this country is towards Blacks.
