nah man.... in no shape form or fashion is bit torrent better maybe because torrents are free.. but what 9-12 bucks a month ? when u have basically access to everything you can ever think to download at the max speed of ur connection? :manny:

To most folks Newsgroups are great, sure. But the selection on good private trackers is just unmatched. Point blank end of story.

I was using NZB, DDL & BitTorrent for a few years downloadig 200Gigs a day and the majority of my traffic was BitTorrent based on the availability alone. Again, because of the fact that the majority of the good private trackers are difficult to get into & keep ratio makes newsgoups initially superior is fine, but if you have a seedbox and branch out to different trackers... the selection is just nuts.

Newsgroups is of course going to have better speeds but i'm not complaining when the majority of what i get is well seeded. Spending $10/mo isn't a big deal either, and is less a cost than keeping ratio and the mindfukk that can be.

there have been studies showing that pirating has no negative impact on their business and can actually give them new customers, I pirated watch the throne then bought it because I liked it

True never bought a walking dead comic book
But since reading them online I became a big fan which
I'm also a gamer so I plan on purchasing the game they have from telltale

the internet
This is from OPs on one of the trackers im on...In short, he is saying this is nothing.

----------------------
Any modern BitTorrent client automatically blacklists IPs that send bad/corrupt/empty data so at best this slows downloads, but has little chance of actually breaking a torrent. Also, it is only being used on the larger public trackers. Small private trackers don't get targeted for this, and if they were the poisoning attacks would first have to obtain accounts to even make an attempt. The way private trackers work differently from public trackers makes it virtually impossible to sustain a poisoning type of attack for more than even a few minutes...

This same tactic was used a few years ago on some of the larger public trackers in an attempt to suppress HBO and Showtime TV shows being released. The worst that ever happened was that a show was delayed by a day or two, or took a few extra minutes to locate a more recent posting that hadn't been poisoned yet.

In the years since it was first done Tracker and Client software has improved, and those improvements have been made with the knowledge of this kind of interference....

IMO the only thing really going on here is that several start-ups are selling a garbage service to MPAA/RIAA types.... and probably making a bunch of cash doing it without ever really effecting BitTorrent one bit...

If newsgroups become popular theyll go after them. They end up looking bad because they are actually making money off pirated stuff by charging people for membership.
