I don’t even have any issues with biracials wanting to be black. HOWEVER, I do have an issue with the ones that only pop that “I’m black only when it’s convenient” bullshyt and they have nothing around them that symbolizes their blackness.

She’s sharing the things ppl say to her because of how she looks, i.e. how she presents in the world.

The phrasing is weird and has changed.
When folks say someone “presents as White”, what they are saying is that person can “pass” for White, so she doesn’t have the same lived experience as Black women or mixed women who still look part Black.

I agree and understand what you were tryna say,
but it’s better to change your wording. Instead of saying:

“She could claim Latin (meaning not Afro-Latina)”

It’s better and more accurate to say:

“She could claim Mestizo”

Because racializing “Latin” to mean Mestizos undermines the plight of Afro-Latines to the equal claim to “Latin” identity.

To make it a bit more relatable.

It’s like referring to a white or mixed person and saying:
She could claim American (meaning not African American)

Remember, Latin is not a race like American isn’t.

Mestizos are not the default to Latin identity.
Like white Americans are not the default to American identity.
