I disagree, Negan lust for power and is a savage.
Shane lacked loyalty and was all for self
Rick really is all about survival, he doesn't want more then he needs, and he will fight for those who fight for him. The dude has trust issues, but ultimately he means well. He just understands it killed or be killed.
Rick lusts for power as well. He never wanted to be a citizen of Alexandria, he always had plans to take over the town. Rick bas also become too arrogant and that'll be the story for season 7. If you really look back at the entire series you'll see that shyt doesn't turn bad until Rick gets involved.

Right, there were quite a few times rick said "we can take it" about quite a few situations/people/towns.

He didn't want to be under their rule because he felt that they were naïve and not prepared for imminent attacks , he didn't want to comply and allow his people to become victims of the naïve attitude of the towns folks, but he also couldn't lead them out, he had no choice. His attitude was they are not leaving and going back out there, but he was not going to allow the townspeople to just make them behave under some everything is alright in the world bullshyt either. So if they had to take it by force he would, not because he wanted the power, because he didn't want to go back outside the walls. And you're right he has become arrogant and forgot the cardinal rule of survival.

As far as things not getting bad, I would say everything that has happen was bound to happen sooner or later, and while he planned poorly he was on the money for pretty much every decision he made.

Camp site - Took too many people and not enough were there to defend the zombie attack
CDC - I'll give him a pass since the guy wasn't up front
Prison - Couldn't take on the Governor and the whole place went up
Terminus - Slight pass but he still led them to danger
Alexandria - He could've taught them survival skill without having to be the leader, and now he's got the Saviors on his back now.

His instincts are terrible and he always believes he can take care of any threat. The reality is his group has been run out of every place they've gone to, and their home is usually a place that someone else has built .

cause him living under they rule was pointless and would have lead to them all being killed. Things needed to change there, and doing it by force was the only way cause they didn't understand the outside world. And of course they could have taken it soon as they got in there

I can explain the abundance of gas. say if the world went to shyt, and more than 90% of the world's population were rendered as zombies, then there would essentially be no traffic anywhere. Thus all the existing gas at the various gas stations and refineries and in fuel trucks would certainly last a VERY VERY long time because there really isn't anyone to consume it.

you could apply this same logic to ammo.

GAS HAS A SHELF LIFE OF ABOUT 1 YEAR IF LEFT UNTREATED . ABOUT 6-8 MONTHS FROM THE PUMP.
