HBO developing GameStop movie with Jason Blum and 'Billions' co-creator
That was fast

:deadmanny::deadmanny:

HBO is getting into the GameStop frenzy by putting into development a movie about the recent Reddit-fueled stock market rebellion.

The untitled project is from Jason Blum (of Blumhouse horror movie empire fame), Andrew Ross Sorkin (who co-created Showtime's Wall Street drama Billions) and Len Amato (Recount).

The pitch: "How a populist uprising of social media day traders beat Wall Street at their own game turning the stock market upside down and shaking the financial world to its core."

The news marks the seventhproject that's been reported in the works about the Gamestop phenomenon, including four other scripted projects and twodocumentaries (and those are just the ones that have been in the press).

The GameStop Wall Street stock situation is already getting the Hollywood movie treatment

Everything We Know About 'Billions' Season 5

Yes. Back in May 2020, the show's co-creator Brian Koppelman posted on Twitter that the plan was to "shoot the back end of the season (the last five of Season 5) when the world resumes." He also clarified that "those episodes are written and ready to go." So, if you've spent the last few months worried that the season's big conflicts would go totally unresolved, you can sleep easy.

When will the second part of Billions Season 5 premiere?

What was going on when Billions Season 5 was cut short?
Bouncing between Chuck's legal entanglements and Axe's business pursuits, there's always a healthy amount of conflict in a given season of Billions, and Season 5 was no exception. Pissed off about his struggles to launch his own bank, Axe was revving up for a big fight with Corey Stoll's Mike Prince, who reached a tentative deal with Wendy and Taylor's new impact fund. Chuck was teaching at Yale Law, a welcome break from dealing with his father Chuck Sr., and pursuing a relationship with a sociology professor played by Julianna Margulies. Wags was still Wags.

Will the new episodes of Billions include a GameStop plot?
In the beginning of 2021, the stock market went a little haywire. As countless people on Twitter noticed, the battle between hedge funds and investors on Reddit over the fate of GameStop, the struggling video game retailer, sounded like something you might see on an episode of your favorite finance drama Billions.

I'll give it 2 more episodes, but if the first few are no good I might not stick with this.
This first ep was wild slow and necessary bc it set the scene for what it is to come. But Taylor’s character needs to go - the robotic emo angst is played out. The artsy angst marvel man needs to go - no one cares. There’s only so many times that we need to see the “I have no friends, my work is a substitute for social life, millions don’t make me happy” reclusive self analysis shyt from those two.

I think the writers are taking it back to the Axe Cap basics -he takes over the finance world to fulfill his ego and Chuck needs his revenge. Seems like they scrapped all of the silly storyline from the last ep before covid and brought out potential new developments. There’s only 4 eps in this mini season - imma stick it out. They better push that GameStop short somewhere towards the end of 5 or make it the basis for a storyline in season 6- that would bring out all of the major players (the feds, SDNY, Wall Street power brokers, more lawyers, FTC, SEC etc etc )

It was OK. Not bad enough to make me turn it off yet.

I feel like the writers aren't smart enough to handle that.

They seem to think you have to be a super genius to make money in stocks, they're not going to let their characters get humbled by message board idiots.
