That was all part of Chuck's set up.
If you watch in this last episode - he mentions (briefly) that the election play was part of his positioning to target Jock- basically he used the election talk as a distraction. Chuck wanted Jock to think that was part of his rationale, but basically what it did was distract Jock's focus off Chuck's angle with the real purpose of the sting operation. (I may be wrong, but that's how I saw it- notice how Jock was so confident that he wasn't going to catch any fallout from Connerty's "overzealousness", bc he knew the election rigging was over and done)

then read it again...I wasn’t comparing the shows per se but the way in which characters are handled...it’s a fair comparison

Taylor has become my favorite character on the show, she works on a lot of levels.

Never thought I would say this, but the show would be a void without her this season. They actually gave her some personality and interesting characteristics. Less robot and more human.
She killed the scenes with her and her father, definitely leveled up with her role.
The sex interest/love interest stuff, I wasn't feeling and they could have left out bc it was unnecessary to the plot, but the conflictual friendships and business maneuvering, were good.

Nah. The election was his original play. He planned on taking down Jock with that and Cohnerty with the sting. But once Chuck realized he couldn't get him because of how they well they hid their kickbacks, he tried to link him to Cohnerty at the last minute. He called an audible and instead of kicking the field goal, he went for the 2 point conversion.

Remember, Connerty smashed in earlier seasons. SO he definitely wasn't hitting that right

sacker and chuck got more in common than either do with connerty.

That’s why connerty should have taken axe up on his offer and go private.

For as much as I criticize this show I actually liked the ending. Now we can get back to Chuck vs. Axe.

Some of these other storylines were status. They got a lot of good things to work with for next season.

This guy Connerty is a pure fukking idiot. I don't remember him being that dumb in previous seasons, but I know they said he got so focused on catching Chuck that he wouldn't see the trap. He's a good character so I hope he sticks around. Maybe they've give Kate more screen time.
