I've always been wary of the "growing income inequality" picture that is painted for NYC. Reason being cause I know my entire community was a part of NYC middle class in the 90s. We were/are the families that crossed into LI for access to better school systems. So I'm like eh....saying the middle class "disappeared" seems a little disingenuous (though its true when the area discussed is defined by geography).

Secondly, and I have to read up on this, addressing inequality across the city is going to require a borough by borough approach. So although the mayor must take the first step, the borough presidents have to be competent. With that said, I'm watching the Queens Borough president race. (nikkas like :ohhh: so there's a mayoral race AND the borough presidents race at the same time. Why ain't the news talking about those folks either :lupe:)

i agree, on my facebook there are so many black brooklynites in atlanta its not even funny

i think building affordable housing is good as long as as its not government owned or ran, but besides that i say let the free market reign and get in where you fit in, i think the reality is that a lot of people need to move

i heard there is a black dude running for brooklyn burrough president

If we drive out the middle class- who's going to pay for everyone down the line? Cant keep kicking the can...
