Yeah the other day I was saying that Rogan's comedy is actually my least favorite thing about him. I'd rather listen to him actually laughing at Joey Diaz stories. For some reason his stand up doesn't do it for me.
actually, his newest (Rocky Mountain High) is probably his best one ever in my opinion, should check it out

What?! I listen to at least one JRE podcast a week (too hard for me to catch all of them anymore) but I had no idea he had a new special. I'll check it out. Worst case you gave me a good suggestion on killing some time. I'll let you know what I think. I appreciate it!

Special wasn't all that tbh, easily one of his worst.

LOL, your taste, as always showing to being of ill ilk.

I can see some of the bite being taken out of the jokes if you're an active podcast listener, but still, this joint was pretty damn hilarious. And as others have mentioned, he's growing more as a well-rounded comic, which was shown quite a bit in this special. Just reading some of the lines here that I may have missed or whatever during two viewings is making me appreciate this stand up all the moreso now.

Probably his best stand up in terms of showmanship, but far from his best over all. He did use a few jokes from his pod cast, and even the gun/psycho/sickle part is from an interview on one of those talk shows....Letterman maybe.

Regardless, even on an off day he's one of the best.

I've seen Rogan's standup live numerous times, and while he is funny, it's not the same type of laughter I get from someone like Burr, Joey Diaz or Hannibal Burress, I haven't seen his new special tho, and its not like hicks where I hardly laugh, but when I saw Burr live my mouth literally hurt from laughing so much

Yeah, a lot of comedians have been borrowing from their podcasts lately, it is a really great source of material so it's understandable why they would do it, I still haven't peeped this yet tho

If you guys want to argue :manny: but take it to PMs. Any arguing on this board not about things this sub forum covers....movie/comedy special/TV show/whatever the fukk....gets deleted, so it's pointless really. :yeshrug:

Mostly because I don't feel like dealing with the report I'll most likely get in about 2 seconds asking to ban people. If I banned people every time someone asked there'd be like 5 posters on here.

I dont know Man. he redefined the jokes, that made them that much funnier to me. Some bits are on par with hes best shyt from the other specials. Tbh you watch again and you"ll get a whole new appreciation for it.

:whoa:

Nah, but I know how these things go. And it wouldn't even be either of you asking for it, either.

If I showed you the mod logs you'd be like :what: "they asked to ban that guy....for that?" over the most random shyt.

So I try to avoid all that....especially considering you're both good posters.

Another reason I think it's so common is that podcasts are probably becoming a really organic place for material to come from. Especially if it's a solo podcast like Bill Burr. They start thinking out loud, they go down a certain road and before they know it, they've got the makings of a good bit.

I know Rogan has said before that he writes less since doing so many podcasts (I used to read his blog before the podcast) and he said he discovers a lot of future stand up material based on conversations during the podcast. pretty sure Burr has said the same.

Might have been my favorite part of the special. Interesting about the varied opinions. I actually enjoyed this special a lot more than his last one. Sometimes I guess if you listen to the podcast you hear a lot of bits before they end up on his specials, and I thought that was especially true of the last one he did. I don't catch the podcast every week anymore, so maybe that's why, but a lot of this was fresh to me.

The religion bit was maybe my favorite part. The .22 caliber bit was funny. I laughed because I'm in NC and I did not laugh when he said "After I mowed the guy's lawn, he asked if I wanted to go shoot his .38 with him." I guess it didn't sound too crazy to me either.

I thought his physicality (no homo) was better on this one than usual. His acting out the guy jumping out of the helicopter from the POV of the pilot and also the jumper was hilarious. The bits on romantic comedies/sex positions was good. My least favorite were the domestic abuse part and the groups/overly sensitive people parts, because he's covered those on previous specials and the podcast.

4/5. Burr is a top 3 comic working today, and probably my favorite. Also, the special was a little long at 90 mins. He could've shaved 15 mins off.
I loved the bit with the psycho and his sickle coming in through the window while Bill's asleep. Very slow, deliberate build, kinda ballsy. Was hilarious, I loved it.
