Wait …. What was Tupac’s connection to this guy and what happened
@kingofnyc. So no answer? So you was just making shyt up then

The West Coast already had another artist with a very similar name – Biggy Smallz, real name Tim Bigelow. His story is mostly covered with mystery, but what is known is that he was also associated in one way or another with Tupac. Smallz only ever managed to release 3 songs, two of which were produced by the producer Johnny J, who was also part of Shakur’s entourage. It’s believed that Pac acted as a mentor to young Biggy and even tried to play his part in giving the up-and-coming rapper a fair shot at fame.

Why does Big mention Mississippi in the song?

The sample was already popular. Big was already using the name.

BUT the Mississippi mention in "Juicy" is eye raising.

During that time period everyone had to mail their demos to the labels in NYC.

yep thats the one im not sure about.:patrice:

Wasn’t th
Kinda fukked up by Puff but this stuff uses to happen all the time unfortunately

Doesn’t take away from BIG’s talent or greatness at all. It’s one song
true, wasn’t this the business model Interscope inherited from Ruthless Records … they even had a skit making light of these situations on one of the NWA albums

"The Mississippi" (river) was a saying back in the day, like being popular this side of "the Mississippi" or east of the Mississippi. He's basically saying he's popular on the radio b/c the Miss river split the country radio wise. Hence the Miss. to the east coast.

Stretch Armstrong would be proud of how you're trying to stretch this. ".. this side of the Mississippi" is a lot different than the typical rapper clutch of "from (one state) to (another state or area)"

Big was known for always giving subliminals, this is probably a subliminal dig at this B1 guy

Sitting back these past few days just laughing at some of the posts in here. This is bullshyt and again shows how much hate Biggie gets on this site.

- this fat nikka from Mississippi sounds way more like Eazy E than Biggie.

- Biggie been using that old school flow since the 80s when he was a teenager....waaaaaay before anybody knew who this cat is.

- Biggie was using the Biggie name since the 80s.

- Biggie was an Unsigned Hype artist before anybody in NY would've even knew who this obscure Downsouth cat is.

- that Mtume beat is and was SUPER popular. Juicy Fruit is a universally loved Black cookout oldie classic since forever. From the East Coast to the West coast to the Midwest to downsouth...everybody loves it. Why the fukk would anyone think it would be impossible for 2 different rappers to rap over it?

- the "Notorious" moniker is the closest link between Biggie and this other fat dude but it's just a coincidence like Mobb Deep having the same names as those other 2 cats from Cali.

- nikkas need to get all the way out of here with that "from the Mississippi down to the East Coast" shyt. Yea, Biggie on his debut album definitely was throwing subs at some obscure rapper NOBODY but some downsouth cats new at the time :stopitslime:

Y'all nikkas lose all types of common sense when it comes to nikkas ya'll don't like.
