Terrific summary so far. :wow:

It further has more American scientists (Northwestern University and University of Colorado Boulder) verifying the simulations and that the model seems to be legit. At least it all lines up consistently.

What's crazy is how much the method of synthesis matters to small details.

It's like if you baked a cake mixing the batter clockwise, you'll get a drastically different result if you mix it counter-clockwise.

That means the synthesis method will determine whether or not you can get the copper atoms right into the correct alignment/pockets/sites for it to work. You basically have a lead and copper compound, but the copper atoms need to replace the lead atoms at the correct sites.

Like I mentioned earlier the gold substitute for copper seems to be working well and I'm pretty sure they'll find different combinations that will replicate the same effect maybe even better and easier, especially with A.I tools once we know what we're looking for.

Now everyone is trying to troubleshoot this thing and find the most reliable way to synthesize so that we get closer and closer to a conclusion based on a very promising discovery.

This is exactly the type of stuff I'd like to see A.I. used for.

Yup: give it a ton of variables (features) and targets (labels). Exactly one of the use cases A.I is valuable for.

When we know what we're looking for (targets/labels) the A.I can start to do the heavy optimization and blow this whole thing wide open.

The timeline is crazy. I read they're in the process of putting the 8,000 handmade experiments/results by the researchers through our A.I algorithms right now.

Imagine if you get the ingredients and instructions to make a pie, but because you stirred one part counter-clockwise instead of clockwise you get a lemon pie instead of a strawberry pie that you were going for.

Not even trying to be funny-- but it makes me think of the Potions classes in Harry Potter. Maybe there is an "artistic" component to Science that's been overlooked.

That's actually what somebody compared it to. I've never seen the movie but that's what somebody specifically said.

The process of creating a silicon wafer seems somewhat artistic

First U.S replication of the phenomena, occurred in a Los Angeles laboratory:

The next step is now brining the samples to scientists stateside so they can have an idea of what's happening.

Peter Thiel company though :camby:

That Andrew McCalip guy though seems to genuine to be associated with that stuff. Dude is primarily concerned with the science. I can trust that cat, can't trust the people he works for though.
