I refuse, I absolutely refuse to believe they think they needed that money for this basic ass flick
They basically filmed this movie twice, one year apart. The first production lasted almost a year because Beatty kept on wanting a million takes and the script wasn't finished. Then everyone had other shyt to do so production was halted. They got back together a year later and filmed for like another year. They also hired like every big name writer to do re-writes. Classic Hollywood disaster.
