Def Jam did a horrible job promoting KRIT. He should have went on a full fledged tour before his album dropped like how J. Cole and Kendrick did.

Look how Jay and Roc Nation promoted J. Cole. The same thing is happening with Kendrick. I wouldn't be surprised if Kendrick does 250k or more for his debut album.

This lacking the :krs: moments of his earlier work. I can really say I wasn't BLOWN AWAY with any of these songs. This is the same guy who made Hometown Hero,Rotation,Temptation,Good Enough,Kings Blues,Dreamin,Time Machine etc...the music is in the same lane but it has no spark to it and just feels off for some reason. So we ended up with a diet version the shyt he did before this.

For every "dope" song on here, there is another song on his previous tapes that execute the same sound only 10x better.

Time Machine>Pull Up *whip song*
Country shyt>I Got This *hype club track*
Players Ballad>Porchlight *for the bytches*
Temptation>What U Mean *strip club song*
The Vent>Any of the slow introspective joints on here

He gave away to many classics, but it's probably more of the label not wantin to clear samples than anything.
this is EXACTLY how i feel. i sort of felt the same way on 4evaNaday but this album fits the description even more.

Trash!!!!!!! Krit finished! Better release more underground albums and tour because you not making it mainstream.

From an album standpoint this is good imo. It just flows. There are no real standout tracks but the mesh of the songs on the album produces a good sound and not just random mixtape tracks and the best part is the album gets better towards the end where most are good at the beginning.

Don't know why this CD getting so much flack. We finally get a good solid release and nikkas complaining :what:album has good flow and actually sounds like an album.

It's still a solid album, people just expected a product along the lines of his mixtapes...which he can't pull off without using too many samples

After listening to this album in completion I think it was just a good album. It didn't have the same magic as KWH and R4. Which brings me to the comparison to Drake and Wiz Khalifa. Two artists that blew up off of free projects they released to the internet. SFG and K&OJ are undoubtedly the best offerings from both artists. Their major label debuts suffered from being formulaic, popish, and safe. Krit kind of went away from what made us fans in the first place. His brutal honesty of the world and himself along with his homage to classic southern rap from the 90s.

that and he's derivative, nerdy and somewhat corny. 'we make it cool to be southern' is the perfect example of his lamer leanings.

but the album has some cuts. he released it too soon after 4eva N a Day.

over saturated himself.

that is sad. most talented hiphop artist to come out since kanye and sells 50k after 3 dope mixtapes.

40-50k is the new norm in today's climate for up and coming artists. Only reason guys like Wiz, Cole, and Drake had so much success with their first album is because they released huge blockbuster singles to go along with the groundwork they put in.. I think these are solid numbers for him for his first week, but I think the album will wind up doing decent numbers at the end if "I Got This" gets a proper push.
