not really feeling it as much as I hoped I would, only like a few songs

If I Fall, Porchlight, Praying Man, Live From The Underground, and Rich Dad Poor Dad are the only tracks that I REALLY fukk with... everything else sounds like generic Southern music

edit: Rich Dad Poor Dad is REALLY fukkin dope though, up there with Red Eye and The Vent in terms of my favorite KRIT song

How would that have made this album better?

Free music is how dude actually makes his living. nikka headlines his own tours based on his free catalog.

Imagine if he would have saved at least 6-7 mixtape cuts for the album. Time Machine,Temptation,Me n My Old School.Rotation,Dreamin,Red Eye,The Vent etc...he gave away classics. It was good for us fans at the time but it didn't turn out well for his album in the long run.

But just think he is capable of this type of work, on a mixtape, then this trait
would still be in him.

It may have been more of a lack of creative control on this album

You mean songs where he couldn't get samples cleared for and that Def Jam wasn't willing to pay for anyway?

Save the songs up and put it on a offical album. He should of chilled on his last mixtape.

Go the Ski beatz route and have live instrumentation play the samples. Im pretty sure DefJam would of held him down like that. It wouldnt have costed more than 10gs to do all that.

Honestly I rate his stuff like this

KWH - 9.5/10
R4 - 9/10
4eva - 8/10
LFTU - 8/10

Great songs on a mixtape doesn't always translate to a great album though. Think Drakes' debut album, So Far Gone was much better. It's hard to drop to classics in a row, but let's hope KRIT can turn in a great album too.

yea this wasnt on Returns level but I think its basically the label. I'm actually surprised they let him put stuff like Praying Man and Rich Dad Poor Dad on there.

Who knows what samples he couldn't get cleared :yeshrug: If that was the case Temptation and Me n My Old School remix wouldn't have been allowed on the intunes version of the album.

I know most of them, because Krit has spoke on it in numerous interviews. He said it would be impossible to release the music on his tapes on the album for the reasons I mentioned above. Maybe if he was working with a Kanye West type budget. But he said he couldn't afford to have all those samples on his album.
