Of course the ATL
That one year we kept him when Chip was probably looking for the Panthers job I was kinda tight....won't even lie. Glad it worked out like it did though. He's a good CEO type coach and both his coordinators grew into their roles too.

The thing I respect most about him is that every year he's been in Charlotte y'all have finished the regular season very strong...even when y'all started seasons off winless & their was speculation about his job y'all still finished strong so you can tell the Panthers players still played hard for him.

I also gotta give him credit for allowing Cam to be Cam. A lotta coaches would've told him to chill out with all the dancing and shyt, but he's letting him be who he is and I think that's played a big role in y'all success. Riverboat is who I wanted Mike Smith to be but :mjcry:

I remember people saying he shouldn't have won that COY award back in 2013. But I though he deserved it then and now. It was a shrewd move for the Panthers front office not to fire him and it's paid off in spades. Plus the guy stuck by Cam Newton as a player and it's all paying off.

But they did.

It was only after the contracts of Deangelo and Stewart hampered them that they fell back from big contracts to skill players.

At one point, they were being ridiculed for the major contracts they had invested in the two of them.

:leon:Valid point. At least learned from their mistakes. The same can't be said of many other front offices :yeshrug:

:sas1: Come on now.

A man named Mike Smith by definition will be as vanilla and risk-averse a coach as humanly possible.

He's going to have three times as many losing seasons as winning seasons after this year.
I wouldnt count washington out just yet, still 12 games left, we have potential on both sides of the ball and the easiest remaining schedule which isn't really true anymore since the NFC EAST is better than expected but.... We won't face that much until December so its very possible we'll be in the mix by years end.

And if not, Sam Howell got next, and we'll draft a QB or trade for one after we move on from Rivera. He has until next year imo
