they didn't know because it's an insignificant amount. any thing sold en masse is going to have shrink, or loss of total value of some kind. there's nothing being sold worldwide that isn't being skimmed off the top somewhere. but with that scenario the amount of initial sales lost, we're talking pennies on the dollar. and eventually the listener has to come back online anyway to be counted.

what a lot of people have to understand is that music was at risk of being totally valueless due to piracy. the system we have now is really an advanced form of life support, not the other way around. people buying physical is reserved for young earthy white women and hypebeasts. it is what it is. thats why you gotta show up on tour.

Ahh yeah I remember seeing something like that as well, thought you were mainly talking about IG/Twitter following. I believe if you use music in TikTok videos that does equate to streams depending on view count or whatever. Not sure if that goes for IG reels as well though.

Peak Meek was ahead of Sean but they were the same tier. Big Sean up to now has gone gold or plat every time and contrary to popular belief, didn’t really rely on Kanye for stuff. He always had his own producers and was off doing his own thing.
