He was always just a another guy really

His album isn’t even sticky on here :francis:

Sayin he just another guy is wild and I say this as someone who was never much a Sean listener. He wasn't on Aubrey, Kendrick, Cole lane but the next 3 was mostly him, Meek, Wale for a time. shyt Sean had 3rd biggest records in rap behind Aubrey and Kendrick in the early 2010s he was bigger than Cole for a while who still had that Logic stench on him before he was fully accepted as the guy. Before Future, Thug, Migos and Atlanta really took over.

I wanna know what was the turning point for fans

Dark Sky Paradise was a great album one of the best pop rap albums of 2010s easy. Had some of the biggest songs of that era on it too and just top to bottom great album. Went double plat... Then he just lost direction. Was makin trap songs, collab wit Metro, the Jhene Aiko collabs, he had depression round this time maybe he just lost it then he was doin more rappity rap soundin more like ol Sean but it seem kinda just to say I still got it to doubters or himself but no one really care no more he fumbled the clout and standin he had wit DSP. He was arguably 3rd behind Aubrey and Kendrick before Cole was really accepted like that.

Cole NEVER had any “Logic type” stench to him. He always outsold Logic and has been more critically acclaimed than Logic throughout his career.

I just don’t understand where people fans just go in mass.

My guy never experienced this problem :sas2:

The biggest question I have about the music business in general is how does all these ppl have millions of followers and can only get 15-20K in streams? Does streams count towards listening to the full album or most of it? I honestly don’t know how it works so I never understood how ppl can post their album, get x amount of likes and comments then their #s don’t look even a quarter of that

And I’m someone that doesn’t judge ppl based off their sales but i am curious

That's not what I was comparin their sales or acclaim. It was uncool to be a Cole fan for the longest time nikkas was seen as herbs for listenin to him. His tapes was hot but he lost a lot of nikkas wit his first 2 albums. They was mid a lot of people saw him becomin corny and generic. He ain't have an identity like Logic didn't he was just sayin shyt just came off like a super rap fan nerd who can make some raps but wasn't some killer spitta or nothin. Wasn't street, or wasn't puttin out hit after hit, or wasn't fly or charismatic, or wasn't some creative genius, or wasn't in best lyricist convos... He was just there accepted as one of the top guys but he just existed. Production wasn't like that some bad No ID and early Ye attempts. His shyts wasn't bumpin in clubs, studio albums were mid, lyrically he'd have moments like the verse on that Good Friday posse cut when you like he one of em ones that get busy but his albums wasn't showin it. He started to change narrative in mid 2010s wit 14FHD and develop an identity and his first universally accepted and loved album then he was firmly in that 3rd spot and held on for years but it wasn't always like that.

Big Sean been in the game since 06-07 ish - he had a legitimately legendary rap career. Multiple hit records, gold and platinum albums, made millions of dollars (he bought Slash from Gunz and Roses old mansion) and he put a really good album.

Anything at this point should just be icing on the cake. He actually showing some of these nikkas how you “mature” in rap and make grown man records but a lot of people don’t wanna hear that.
1. This is all true. All in all, Sean had a great career

2. I didn't know about that Slash mansion thing. Thats kinda cool

I disagree. He wasn’t fully embraced until 2014
