"I had to hustle, my back to the wall ashy knuckles, pockets filled with a lot of lint, not a cent...."

I personally liked hov verse way more, gipp is siding with the em had a better verse narrative because its easy to do that especially when you a hater... how can a cac make one of the best rappers of all time cool in his own culture? its the other way around if anything

get this ol country hating ass nikka outta here
Em had a better flow on the song but Jay had the better verse imo.

the thing is nobody was saying that when the track came out, if everyone thought Hov had the better verse back then, they should have said it back then
Eminem’s verses were relevant given his criticism at the time. I think divorced from that moment Jay’s verses hold up better. It’s still a toss up to me. But my younger cousin’s for example think Eminem is just saying whatever because they don’t recognize a world where he is public enemy number one.

Gipp still mad that Hov told Big Boi and Killer Mike to leave him at home and not bring him to the session for 'Poppin' Tags".

That’s what makes it worse. Em couldn’t be bothered to change the verse after hearing Jay’s verse, and gave it to him as is :pachaha:

Has anybody asked Dame his thoughts on this?
Em already made the song he wanted to make with the hook and everything :ld:

That’s what I said. He wasn’t intimidated by Jay-Z’s verse to change his.

That's probably because it was never a competition until Nas made it one. Before that we used to have debates about who had the best verse on records. Nas use of the word "murdered" changed everything for collabs.

You seriously don’t think rappers care to have the better verse on a track? It’s always a competition. The point is Eminem gave Jay-Z the verse as is. He was obviously confident that there is nothing that Jay-Z could say to make his verse look weak.

No, I think rappers care that their verse is dope.

And that joint had four dope verses. There's always some friendly competition, but Nas made it into something negative if one verse was better than the other (which is always going to be the case by definition).

Actually made Eminem cool before that he hadn’t really done any tracks with any big time legit rapper and was serious

Besides Dre he had some feats on The Madd Rapper, Missy, High Mighty. Ect etc
