Credit gurus, I have been working hard to improve my score and it has been working great. :wow:

I know time is everything when building credit but My question though is, when do I start receiving pre approved letters from the big boy companies; Amex, Chase, etc

Of course that’s not the main focus on why I am working on my credit life but I bet it feels great when you get a pre approved letter for AMEX GOLD :patrice:

What’s that score that helps open some of these doors? :feedme:

seems like 700s are the entry points to most of these cards huh? :ohhh:
yeah but depending on what kind of card you want you can probably skate by with a lower score
for example for amex you just need one card and then after they do soft pulls and use the history you have with your current card to make a decision
so if you get a basic cash everyday or basic everyday card you can apply for the gold or plat a couple of months later and they won't look at your credit so much
I can't speak much for chase because i don't have one
also, companies are giving credit like crazy right now

Gold? Peasants :comeon:

Platinum Gang here :win:

You have to keep stepping up in cards to get to that level, Amex ain’t sending out no preapprovals for anything outside a blue cash card :mjlol:

Start with a Cap 1 Quicksilver, then Discover card and get that limit up to about $15k then go to the Chase Sapphire Reserve which I think my limit is $25k, from there the Amex Plat should open up. Don’t waste your tile with a gold card I don’t even think the benefits outweigh the annual fee

Chase has a 2/24 rule where you can’t have more than 2 new accounts open within 24 months of one another for them to consider you. They don’t want you taking their welcome offer of 50k whatever points and then walking away.

Does the Amex platinum look at your salary as a requirement?

just checked my credit.
pushing up on 760, under 10% credit usage...and i've been unemployed since march 2020.
life is crazy. my credit was not jacked up before that but it's gotten steadily better over the
past year and a half and that's just off unemployment benefits.
i have bought a few things here and there but for the most part i bank everything and pay off debt like it was my job.
i don't really get any credit card offers...
