I assume they're doing what all governments are doing due to the nature of a business model created and popularized by American companies.

The CCP has no legal authority over americans. forcing a change of ownership doesn't fundamentally address what data is collected and how it can be used.

why are you OK with the government granting itself censorship powers? do you think tiktok is the last website or app they'll ban?

I skip a lot of bullet points cause I assume we might all be on the same page.. as far as the facts surrounding certain subjects.

But let's take it from the top. Google is listening all the time. Same with Siri I assume. They gather every bit of data they can and they do shyt I don't like. Such as: send me ads all the time. Try to sell me shyt.

I am annoyed by that.

Russia is attempting to gather all the info they can. China. Iran. Any enemy of the US (and any ally of the US too for that matter).

And China, Russia, North Korea, and the Klingon Empire use the data for one thing. Destroying the US. Fukcing with elections. Manipulating markets. Hacking and stealing. If they could press a button that eliminated us all they would do it immediately.

I am not "okay" with the US govt and US companies doing what they please with my data. But. The thing they want to do is sell me some junk or monitor me to make sure I'm NOT A RUSSIAN, CHINESE, OR KLINGON SPY. Or the govt wants to catch me if I am a mass shooter or a serial killer or selling fent.

What the US govt and the US companies are certainly NOT trying to do is destroy America. I know faux militants say they want America destroyed, but if you live in America you're just saying that to sound edgy. You want America destroyed? Start with your own house. Your own family. What's that you say? You would fight to the last breath for YOUR house and YOUR family? Well if America goes, so does all your shyt.

i understand that the data security reason is complete bullshyt, but there are other types of weapons and dangers out there. most people i see dying on the hill for this app, are also addicted to this app. i understand the criticism of why it's being banned, but i'm not against it being banned. it's certainly not gonna have any influence on who i vote for president.

i don't agree with why it's being banned.

i still think these social media algorithms that are meant to be addictive are dangerous for people's mental health, especially younger people and i don't think those things being banned is bad thing. it's not censorship to ban something that is negative for people's mental health. i'd support the same thing for IG/facebook/anything that has algorithms that feeds negative thoughts and garbage to young people really.

the whole tiktok algo is trash over here. they dont promote STEM like they do in China, it's purpose is literally mind warfare against the kids. if they can influence them to pursue trivial shyt, they'll spend their time trying to go viral instead of improving theirselves.
