Just looked more into it. Trump let him out of jail a while ago to go on house arrest because of covid (bs reason). Biden commuted the sentence, but the guy will still be a convicted felon.

Even though he isn’t technically pardoned, it’s just semantics. This is still a huge slap in the face to the kids he sold into modern day slavery.:francis:
Wanted to come back to this trump whataboutism. Trump did not let the judge out of prison. Nonviolent federal prisoners were allowed to serve their sentence under house arrests due to the bipartisan CARES act.

CNN —
Thousands of federal inmates who were released from prison to complete their sentence from home as a preventative measure to combat the spread of Covid-19, will be allowed to remain on home confinement, the Justice Department announced on Tuesday.
Since March 2020, the federal Bureau of Prisons has placed more than 36,000 inmates on home confinement, according to the agency’s website. While more than 25,000 have completed their sentences, 7,700 remain on home confinement.

Over 36,000 nonviolent offenders were let out of prison during the pandemic due to overcrowding of prisons. The death rate of covid-19 was 6 times higher in prisons than in the general population. The judge wasn’t given some special treatment by trump.

In January, the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel concluded that when the pandemic emergency ends, BOP would be required to recall all prisoners placed in extended home confinement who are not otherwise eligible for home confinement.

The “cash for kids” judge was supposed to go back to prison to serve the remainder of his sentence but in 2021, it was Joe biden’s department of justice that allowed the prisoners on house arrest to serve the remainder of their sentence at home instead of going back to jail. And now it is Joe Biden again, who commuted their sentence.

Wait so was this judge directly pardoned or was he just included in a group of people who were pardoned on house arrest?

The judge was one of thousands of “white collar” criminals that deemed to not be a threat to public safety and were subsequently released from federal prison to serve their time on house arrest due to overcrowding during the COVID pandemic and the higher death rates of federal prisoners. This was done through the bipartisan CARES act.

1. In 2021, Joe Biden’s DOJ allowed them to remain on house arrest for the remaining of their sentence instead of going back to prison like they were supposed to.

2. Joe Biden has now pardoned some of those prisoners, including this judge.

White collar crimes are typically considered nonviolent. Doesn’t really matter.
It does because you're implying he let off "wealthy people" when it's normal to pardon people for non-violent crimes

Point is this is mostly a non-story since this was a broad pardon and not a personal one
