The U.S. House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to formally authorize its ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, as Republicans unite behind the effort even though they have yet to find evidence of wrongdoing by the Democrat.

So, 4 years ago during Trump's 1st Impeachment, I was wrong when I said they shouldn't impeach because it might backlash and help Trump in the election.
This is definitely going to backlash on Republicans and it will guarantee they lose the House. Republicans have put themselves in the smallest box. They are doing this solely on vibes and red bull rage. Which means an Impeachment inquiry is most likely to lead to an actual Impeachment vote based on ridiculous articles of Impeachment.
If the Impeachment vote passes with all Republicans voting yes, Republicans in swing or Biden districts are definitely cooked and several Republicans Senators will openly shyt on the Impeachment which will make the Republican party look bad. The American public, primarily Independents sees the "evidence", and realizes that Republicans are abusing power to hurt Biden which will rub people the wrong way.
If the vote fails because Republicans in swing or Biden districts vote no, the MAGA base will be enraged, the party will be embarrassed and fight each other, and the Speaker will be considered a powerless RINO cuck for not getting it done. Swing district Republicans are still cooked just for voting for the inquiry and if it's enough time left in the election season, they could face a primary challenge from the MAGA group. Biden will look good by comparison of the Republican chaos. He would look even better if he did speeches highlighting his desire to govern and fix problems vs Republicans desire to attack him and his family.
If they were to announce that they won't bring it to a full vote because they don't have enough evidence that fits a high crime or misdemeanor, the Speaker is in danger of losing his job, the MAGA's and Trump meltdown and the Republicans fight each other.
The only way this doesn't lead to an actual Impeachment vote is if they plan to drag this on like the Bengazi hearings in an attempt to keep it in the news once the primary election is over in order to dangle the image of "corruption" over Biden's head to voters and to help Trump in the election. In hopes it just eventually fizzles away. But that would get tired quick because the MAGA crowd, and probably even Trump himself would be demanding for the actual Impeachment vote after a while.
