that's thes intent of the "aid"So we give financial aid to this country then turn around and sell that same country weapons...
It MUST be spent on US weapons. It's written in to the aid agreement.
It's essentially a giveaway to us weapons manufacturers using your tax dollars to buy weapons for other countries

My understanding was that india had closer relations to the russians, than to the US. I recall them making their stand with them a while back over fighter jet/weapons sales. They bucked the morality and sole supplier strings that typically come with US deals. Furthermore, they had that socialist wave(70s-90s) that alienated India from every western nation not named Britain.
Now if you had said pakistan, id be in full agreement tho

That ain't even including the chinooks, c-130s, bell helicopters, C-17s and countless other equipment that they both own that is american military equipment sold to them.
So yes we sell weapons to both countries. Its no more different than turkey who purchases russian military equipment and America military equipment.
Basically if there is a potential conflict certain weapons such as the F-35 for example will not be sold to them (an example of this was america deciding to not sell the F-35 to Turkey due to them purchasing a missile system from russia) . Or a more watered down version of the equipment/system they are selling.
