Boogie Nights was dope, Magnolia was cool, There Will Be Blood is a masterpiece. PTA is a great director.

But Nolan has an unique ability to push the envelope of storytelling while still be grossly commercially successful.

How many other directors can you say make films that has storytelling going both backwards & forwards, films where you are viewing both protagonists and antagonists (or which ever) perspective from the other perspective's diary, films where you have four simultaneous dreams told all at the same time seamlessly, and able to transform a comic book into something realistic? Not to mention tell one of the ambitious science fiction cinematic experience since 2001? All of this while being grossly commercially successful?

Not too many can make that claim outside of Spielberg himself.

Nolan does not push the envelope of storytelling but he does push the envelope of being a bytch by jacking the entire plot of Inception from a Donald Duck comic by the gawd Don Rosa.

basically. PTA is a true great artist of our era.

nolan is an artist too but he seems to only want to make huge budget movies.

plus BATMAN hurt his legacy.

Nolan got too big for his britches and can now only make pompous, soulless overwritten spectacle.
