Also how do they define "sexual abuse"? Is catcalling sexual abuse? Saying "you look beautiful" to a random woman on the street? Not trying to say sexual abuse doesn't occur among many young lback girls, but my bullshyt meter goes up when I see articles painting black men in a negative light.

Stop playing games! You know what sexual abuse is. And that's only the girls who admitted it. Imagine the ones that aren't reporting it.

First, ACKNOWLEDGING there is a problem.


Next, Teaching boys at an early age to control themselves sexually, Or have dire consequences.

Teach them about "bad touch" young.

Stop sexualizing young boys & girls.

How many white women are abused by age 18, with the amount of white pedos everywhere? Why aren't they focused on that?

Throwing out flawed stats like this one, which is done by a tiny section of the population and doesn't really paint the true picture - is problematic. The divide between black men and black women is already wide and there's no point throwing something as troubling as this, which is based on inconclusive data collation/sample, from an insignificant percentage of the population, out there. It's like these folks have an agenda and they're trying to destroy whatever bit of connection is left between black men and black women.

Not saying sex abuse doesn't happen in the black community but I doubt it's on an epidemic scale like this stat is trying to conclusively tell us. 60% is a very high percentage and it means almost every black woman out there has been sexually abused smh.

I agree, that's street harassment. The thing is, a lot of women consider any type of compliment to a woman on the street as harassment. Telling someone they're beautiful is not harassment.

“A similar study that was conducted by Black Women’s Health Imperative seven years ago found that that number was about 40 percent,” Tanis told NewsOne. “So that means there is an increase and we need to stop neglecting that issue.”



According to the White House, young women between the ages of 16 to 24 suffer from the highest rates of dating violence and sexual assault. On Nov. 30, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Pat Leahy (D-Vermont) and Senator Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) introduced bipartisan legislation to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which was first passed in 1994 by then-Senator Joseph Biden. The legislation helps states and local communities provide services for victims, develop specialized law enforcement units and works to strengthen prosecution of these crimes. The annual incidence of domestic violence has dropped by more than 50 percent since VAWA was first passed, the White House reports.

A total of 700 women? Wouldnt that be like 1/20,000th of the black female population in america over the age of 18? They really couldnt have done a slightly wider survery?

Plus, women experience different levels of what can be seen as 'sexual abuse', some very severe and some nowhere near as severe. If they're all grouped into one, then you're gonna get a distorted result. And im not tryna undermine the overall goal of the survey cos i know this is a serious issue that does need to be confronted.
