#TSC
Prime RVD's run better than that

If this is the case, then RVD should have one HELL of a Stangregation that is way more vocal across TSC than what's being shown in this thread.

Put me on, though. What highlight matches do I need to check for?

This is tough. At their best, these guys were two of the most unique, cool characters in the business. At their worst, lazy shells of themselves content with playing the hits and going home. I’ll say...RVD, because the shyt was doing blew my mind when I first saw him as a kid. His look, ringwork, and overall attitude just stood out so much to where he was so unique. Nakamura was like that in the 10’s but a Van Dam gets nostalgia points so :manny:

I'mma say this:

Shinsuke probably one of the only ones that woulda seen Rob backstage with that 'pick a hand' shyt if they shared a locker room in the 2000s and been with the shyts.
Rob might coulda got his ass kicked, too. Folk forgetting Shin did Pride and NJPW at the same damn time.

I think it comes down to preference of presentation style. Rob and his airbrushed yinyang dragon stuff or Shinsuke with the leather and shyt.

Woulda been a GOAT odd-couple tag team tho :banderas: Boma Ye followed by the 5 Star... woulda be draped in gold, smoking out the locker room and dipping before the show over to hit the sushi spot with the sushi on the little boats:lawd: My my, what coulda been

It's a lot of parallels between these two when you think about it.

Both of them famous for holding the secondary title in their promotion despite being main event level guys

Both known for unorthodox martial arts style offense

Both have that swag of being cool, laid back guys that could nonetheless whoop 95% of the locker room's ass in a shoot if need be

Both had their peak before WWE then went to New York and started mailing it in/cashing checks

I'll take Nakamura because I think he's a little less one-dimensional than RVD in-ring. I love RVD, stanned him heavy as a kid but if I'm being honest, he never really brought the emotional aspect to his matches. As athletic contests, his bouts with Jerry Lynn are legendary and rightfully so, but they don't really have the same drama and epic feel as Nakamura's best matches with Ibushi, Tanahashi etc.

Also, being objective, NJPW during Nakamura's era is a bigger stage than 90's ECW.
