I actually surprised it took so long for this game to be mentioned. Even though I thought revolver was a better game I still enjoyed redemption more than some of the other sandbox games mentioned. I have to say my favorites in no order have to be Prototype, Mercenaries, and Bully.

there ain't enough elite gamers on this site
in all seriousness the game ain't for everyone. it's pretty much the most 'hardcore' game I've ever played. a huge map with no kind of 'fast travel', and vehicles are very very rare. you have to eat and drink. ruthless fellow players that will shoot you on site for you can of beans. by "on site" I mean from a mile away where they can see you with their sniper rifle, but you can't see them. zombies that match your speed and never stop chasing you, until you kill them or juke them somehow. not to mention the game/mod is still in alpha and has all kinds of issues like zombies seeing you through walls
but all that adds up to a very intense experience that you seldom find in games. when I'm searching for items, and hear a gunshot in the distance, my fukkin heart almost jumps out my chest

at all times......and the funny thing is i dont even know how to do ANYTHING....
i have bandages and i still havent figured out how to use them =[ ...
