Kurt Angle was able to stand out during the Attitude Era which was no small task, Lesnar came along when the company was going through a rough patch and needed some new blood. Lesnar was amazing but Kurt was getting nuclear heat while racking up title after title.
Easy being over against the Rock and Jericho in 2000....but when they are gone, where do you stand? Which is what was proven with a guy like Cripple H outside of 2000.

Angle, Lesnar, Shelton, and the Rock are some of the fastest learners in the history of pro wrestling. Shelton made Lesnar look like a green nobody in those tag matches in 2001. But Lesnar was their goal as we all learned as they usually don't give two fukks for anyone that is too dark for the game.

I'd go with Kurt. He acclimated to the business like no one before or since. Don't get me wrong Brock did his thing but in terms of overall skills, promo, character, charisma etc... it's not even close.

Plus, he won a gold medal with a broken freakin neck.

In his first year brock beat the rock, rvd, undertaker, hogan, and the hardy boyz.
:banderas:

He also became the undisputed champ and the king of the ring winner.
:youngsabo:

He already had his first classic fued/match with taker in his rookie year:ohlawd:

It ain't too many wrestlers that's toppin` that rookie year
:wow:
And to think he did it in record time with a stacked roster:obama:
Except Kurt, He beat all the top guys in their prime while dealing with a much more stacked 2000 roster. Kurt also won the Heavyweight, Intercontinental & European championship while winning the King Of The Ring.
Brock went over Hogan and the Rock those are the two biggest stars in the history of this business.

He would have went over Stone Cold also if Austin didn't refuse to job like the fukk nikka he is.
That didn't mean shyt, going over Rock was the bigger accomplishment.

Love Brock to death, but i find it hard to put him over Kurt. Angle was the total package from day one. Not to mention he had a gimmick that shouldn't have worked on paper and he had to do that shyt solo. He was holding his own in and out of the ring against legends in their prime

The roster was more stacked in 2002 and brock succeeded on his presence alone which is hard to do. Not every buff wrestler have that aura about themselves like Lesnar does.

He was beating legends clean in the middle of the ring.

He already had a classic fued underneath his belt to show that he can hang with the top dogs.

I can't recall kurt angle having a classic fued his rookie year.

Its close but my vote goes to Kurt Angle mainly for the fact if you looked at both when they first debut you looked a Brock like ":whoo:This rookie monster gonna be a problem in the future :whew:" while you looked at Kurt like ":dahell:Da fukk is a 3 I's? :camby:This ain't the olympics no judges gonna save you from dem ass whoopings :martin:" and Kurt quickly proved everyone wrong.

Again Kurt rose to the top with Rock, Austin, Taker & Triple H all in their prime, that's completely different than where the company was in 02 with decreasing ratings and top stars leaving (Rock & Stone Cold). Lesnar stood out because the overall roster wasn't that impressive at the time, as for Angle not having a classic feud that may be true but he was having classic matches.

Classic matches? Not classic but a good part of the upper midcard...Lesnar was pushed more credibly with clean wins while Angle was much better on the mic and doing comedy promos...

Kurt Angle did it on his own with no help from Paul Heyman. He mastered all aspects of it quicker than Lesnar did and didn't have the advantage of being a physical freak of nature to help add to his aura.

Coincidently, The Rock, Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar are all in my personal top 5.

Kurt Angle came through and developed a classic heel character that we loved to hate in one year, did storylines of trying to fukk Stephanie behind HHH's back, involved in a six man hell in a cell, won the WWF championship, all in his debut year, Kurt easily

edit: cant say easily cause Brock had a hell of a year too

I enjoy Brocks first year a lot more than Kurts. Imo Kurt didn't really get good until 2 years in.

He was good at playing an annoying heel right off the bat, yes, but so is The Miz. Brock has classic moments/matches in that first year.

Goldberg had the best rookie year. He was bigger in 1998 than both guys.

The difference is Lesnar had the machine behind him, and was booked as a big deal from the start by winning KOTR, beating legends right away (Flair, Hogan, was supposed to go over Austin etc.), and beating The Rock in his first five months.

Goldberg was still running through mid carders until early 1998, then he beat Raven for the US title and things skyrocketed from there, so his rise to the top was more organic.
