holy shyt! my mind is blown right now. i was just playing that kanye album this past week and fell in love with "last call" again. i was gonna make a thread on how "last call" may be one of kanye's best beats :pachaha:

It's crazy right? :ohhh:

I would never have guessed it either. He's said a few times that he wants to just release the original beat on Twitter one day with the actual sample before they had John Legend re-sing the "Mr. Rocafella" part, but he has yet to do it.

I'm late to this thread but Reloaded is a masterpiece. When it dropped I only knew Roc from Flip-mode Squad and the EP he did with Gangrene (Hadn't heard Marcberg at the time)...I was blown away. definitely wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Roc sneaks into my top 10 occasionally depending on what I'm listening to at the time. Might just have to give him permanent real estate on the list.

What ever happened to the Albums with DJ Muggs and Alchemist that are allegedly already recorded?

The project with Muggs has a name and I'm confident is actually coming out. I think the project is called Kaos.

As far as the one with Alchemist...I have no idea. I know they had one recorded and finished in 2011/2012 before Reloaded ever dropped. I heard from a very trusted and reliable source that they were shopping it around to some labels, but that either no one wanted to put it out, or no one wanted to put it out for the price Marci was asking.

It's hard to imagine the former is true, because Marci and Alchemist were both very hot that time and everything Marci was dropping was well received critically and sales-wise (for an indy artist.) So maybe Marci just wanted too much? I have heard that he charges a LOT for features and live shows, and that promoters or artists feel that he tries to price them out instead of just saying no.

I don't know if they've recorded a new project since then, but I imagine if they ever do drop it, that they'll want to at least record a few new joints?

They dropped this song as a limited edition vinyl release last year, and I thought it might be leading up to the announcement of a new project, but nothing happened.

Agree with every word.

The one on Kanye's album my dude. A lot of people don't know he did that beat. That's what got him his Grammy. When Kanye did that beat for DIlated Peoples, Ev had made the Last Call beat and gave it to Kanye to see if he could get it on The Black Album for Jay, because the sample says "Mr. Rockefeller". Jay didn't use it, so Kanye did, and he brought in all these live instruments and stuff for the story he tells at the end of the song. Kanye did all of that, and after he added all that to the song he told Ev he was gonna give Ev a co-production credit with it and Ev was cool with that.

Here's a good video of Ev talking about making the beat and the experience with Kanye.

Video should start at 4:25

That's my exact order as well, and my exact rating for each project. I might have RR slightly ahead of PSB if the vocals were mixed a little bit better on RR. A few joints on RR just don't sound all that crisp, especially compared to Reloaded, which basically sounds perfect.

My only real issue with the project. Not sure why he's struggling with this. He had the same problem with Beacoup.

lol yup i got the exact same order and the exact same ratings for each too. might be the first time i've ever agreed with someones ratings 100 percent for 5 projects

Pimpire has grown on me BIG time, songs like: IDK, Slingers, Ice Cream Man, Velvet Cape, Bruh Man, Ruff Town

roc marc KILLED Velvet Cape
"Rose gold links from Panama
Tan lines from camel rides
Smooth like the Phantom glides
Fly eyewear, diamonds is rare
Fresh out of Zaire
I'm on a higher tier
Dry your tear

Pop guns by the pair
One in the trunk, call that a spare
Lift you in the air
Ligaments tear"

:banderas:

I actually think both Action & Meyhem bested him on that. The beat was tailored for the two of them at the time. Action was really on his Ghost style at the time, then Mey came in and just killed it. Basically screaming on the end of it.

I was bumping some Marci yesterday and got reminded of this thread. I wish these 5 joints produced by Alchemist, Alchemist, Oh No, Just Blaze, and Roc Marci (in that order) had found a home on one of his official albums.

how good is that Stop Me joint? fukk, i love grooves like that

Just said he got like 7-8 joints w/ Roc, its up to him when to rls them. that was some for the culture shyt (he later did something similar w/ WSG and Conway)
