Yes. Exactly. Jay was the best rapper of 2001 until December 4, 2001. Clearly it was Nas after we heard Stillmatic.

Perhaps we should give 01 to Jay and then 02 to Nas since Stillmatic didn't come out til the very end of 01 and his 3 peat spilled over into 02...

We consider everything that flows from the album for the calendar year it was released.

I don't see how this can be disputed. Unless you go the @Inspect Her Deck route of the battle doesn't matter.

I mean it matters somewhat but it's always been album first for me I been consistent with that.

Blueprint is quite a bit better for me and in terms of the battle although Ether had a greater effect I even prefer Takeover as a song. That's neither here nor there though, Ether had a stronger impact as a diss.

We didn't actually hear him crying live on the radio though.

Stillmatic was a great comeback album but that doesn't make it blueprint status.

who ripped off jay's flows? blupeprint and stillmatic are even, and equally overrated.

Scarface was in his second prime on the Fix. He smashed that album top to bottom

I always thought that album was overrated. It was a great album no doubt - but it was more they were giving him props for what he'd done already.

the only people getting anywhere close to Nas and Jay as rappers in that time frame were Jada and Cam.

Jada dropped the ball something awful though. Cam was 02.
