nah son. nah Snoop not gonna run away with this. Listen, I love Snoop and by all means he had a great 93. But for this year, WE MUST HAVE CO MVPS. Snoop Dogg/Wu tang clan. Yes the wu is a group. yes it's 7 to 1. But let's 36 chambers started it all off. Everyone had solo success. Touring, Merchandise. That same impact snoop had on the west Wu had the same impact on the east. Actually if you think about it, it was worldwide impact for both. NO freaking way you can say Snoop dominated 93 and not mention the Wu. My vote is for Co mvps- Snoop and Wu tang

:camby:

Wu tang was the B team, the opening act

900,000 people didnt cop Wu first week

People were not camping out at record stores to cop Wu

I appreciate the pro Wu Tang sentiment, but there's no way we can put all 9 Wu members against Snoop.

Biggie rode Snoops wave so how would he have been bigger?

BB copied the Death Row slash west coast blueprint for album making

When Snoop came out he was the biggest rapper EVER

pushing his release date by 60 fukking days doesn't CHANGE that oNe bit

It'd definitely be a competitive thread, much more than this one.

When I looked at Complex's list, it wasn't really representative of the best rapper every year, just the most popular at the time. Snoop in 93 fits the rare case where he was arguably the most popular, most skilled and had the biggest year from a career perspective, but in 94, he might not qualify in any of those 3 categories. I always said in the 90s the bar got raised significantly. Snoop wasn't the ringing of a new era, he was the last breed of the older era, as he's much more Slick Rick than he is Nas. The waves of emcees that came out in the mid 90s changed our standards.
I agree with this. It was the end of the styles era as @Art Barr would say.

Not to diss Wu at all, but Doggystyle sold multiple times what Enter the 36 Chambers did, and Snoop was ushering in the Death Row era in Hiphop. Wu definitely deserves a mention, but in 93, nobody could compete with Snoop.
They both sold well. Sales doesn't factor in much for me. And The Chronic ushered in the Death Row era.

This isn't all about sales. And Wu were an unknown group before 36 (or I guess the Protect Ya Neck song)...Snoop was coming off the Chronic.

He's gotta go up against Illmatic Nas and Biggie if he drops in 94.
It wouldn't be a blowout like this poll was.
So it does change things substantially.
I'd vote Nas.

:patrice:

u may have a point

I dont see how u can put one over the other

Who the fukk else came close to Big in 97?

And whats with this 96 will be competitive talk?

As if 96 wasnt Pac :pachaha:
I think 93 was a more competitive year...and Snoop absolutely crushed everyone. So I think its a bigger achievement for him.
96 was a crazy competitive year.
Nas with IWW.
Dre with ATLiens
Jay with RD
Not to mention the rapper I'll be voting for :pdahell:
If Pac gets 80% of the vote in 96 that would be :gladbron:

Tribe had a better album than Wu in 93. I respect Wu but 93 was Snoop. I categorically reject any attempt to add any co partnership to Snoops runnin of 93
