Best Mission: Impossible movie and your ranking of the series?

Now that Fallout has come and crushed the buildings and the box office for the past few weeks, curious as to how everyone ranks the series.

Listened to a ton of podcasts of the series pre-and post Fallout. I also saw some preliminary rankings in the fallout thread before the movie came out.

I think it truly made a leap with the 4th and has arguably gotten better each time out since.

I always plan to do a rewatch before a big movie, but I always get lazy or too A.D.D. so I haven't rewatched any of them other than about 30 min of Rogue Nation before fallout

So now I'll say

I know the list will seem blasphemous to most but I enjoy the John Woo fukkery of MI2 tons more than the generic faceless blockbuster style of 3 and 4.

Hoffman as the villain in 3 was so good though. That alone trumps It over 1 and 2 for me.

1. Mission Impossible Fallout - the ultimate MI movie, had the best elements of all the previous flicks combined into one, insane stunts, great action, suspense, spy fukkery, team work, great villain and Ethan Hunt had the most depth/character development.
2. Mission Impossible - still the best pure spy flick of the whole series. The fact that it spent more time building suspense than having over the top action scenes made the helicopter/train chase at the end hit harder.
3. Mission Impossible III - Had a good combo of the spy suspense of the first and the action of the second. Also had the best villain of the series and added some depth to Ethan's character.
4. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol - I know people love this one, it never really hit me like that outside of the tower climb. I also think the lack of a great villain hurts it a bit
5. Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation - I should probably rewatch this one because I don't remember much outside the opera fight and the motorcycle chase
6. Mission Impossible 2- This was one of my favorite movies growing up. Rewatched it recently and it's cheesy as hell. Still a fun, dumb movie but a level below the other flicks in the series imo

This is mine, though I MIGHT flip 5 and 1.

Ghost Protocol is my shyt. A better villain and it would be a 10/10. Perfect blend of spectacle and lighter moments.
