No, illegal file sharing sites like Kazza, Gorkster, and Limewire did. Streaming services actually saved the record companies. Because no one was making anything at all from Napster (until they went legit) but atleast with streaming you can eat well, if you own most of your masters and publishing of course.

Are there any decent P2P sites still around for that older vintage music?? Torrents dont cut it for older Soul, hiphop and reggae.

Man yall better buy up every dvd and blu ray you can find. With digital media especially streaming you do not control how long you can access your favorite movies they can switch off your service and demand a monthly charge for a movie you already supposedly own digitally. Plus the pay per stream movies lack all the special extras and bonus footage from some of the DVD/Blu Ray releases. On top of that they can change the version of the movie they stream to you at will they can censor "controversial" scenes or remove the film you like from their platform.

Anybody that holds on to a large dvd/bluray collection will eat like a king when all those physical copies become rare. Limited edition dvd and bluray prices will skyrocket. get your ebay account ready.

I never used torrents because I always thought it would bring on Malware, I usually just search up blog sites and hope that their links are still active. R.I.P. to Rapidshare and Megaupload. I use to eat off them sites.
