I tried Bens Chilli Bowl once by accident. Was acting a fool around that area and happen to just be next to it. Didn’t even know about its history. Tried to share my hot dog with the girls I was with. They was fronting talking about they didn’t want none knowing damn well they was hungry

I just ate next door ..at "Ben's Next Door" they were serving more upscale food and had a bar w/ a nice vibe and young crowd. Food was ok/good .

This was like a month or 2 ago .. Business looked pretty good at original Ben's Bowl and next door .

I smoked a fat blunt to the face in the alley between them


Corona was just hitting though and ppl were still out on U st.


I ate at a few places while I was there .

First Bill Cosby for them.. now this

I hope it survives too but you right, the food is trash. Their fries are aight but nothing special. Their turkey burgers could be so much better and don’t even get me started on their hot dogs

DC is where the half-smoke was invented and I’m willing to bet it’s other spots in the city that offer better tasting half-smokes, even the lil food carts around tourist-ass National Mall.

I don’t really have anything nice to say about their chili....My mama makes way better chili, that’s all I’m finna say. Their milkshakes look a lil promising but Idk...

That said, I still hope they pull through. They’re a local and national institution, plus I enjoy checking out the endless scenes of typical U Street fukkery whenever I’m there

It's a landmark but the food been trash for years. Hasn't been good since that are became almost majority white.

That prolly explains why the food went down in quality

If they survive, I recommend you go at least once just for the experience. The food might taste better while you’re drunk out your mind lol
