The album is good, if I make a list it'll be on there...but I feel like Benny needs some direction as an artist and rapper. Nearly every song has the exact same flow pattern - either through most of the song or at some point or another. That stutter stop flow, almost like he's adding commas to verses. He uses a lot of the same words over and over; at this point I don't know if he can go 100 bars without mentioning a plug, or a relative or friend who did something drug related. I think back to Hov's drug raps, or Esco Nas, or even more recently Pusha...there was a level of variety at play. Benny is certainly more of the "dealer on the street" perspective than any of those rappers, but even still I feel like there should be more variety in vocabulary and drug rap shyt.

I like diversity. I get tired of hearing people rap about the exact same shyt every song, every project...and it makes it impossible for them to grow. Some people get away with it...I think Roc Marciano avoids that trap because of his wit and humor, for instance. But Benny and Conway are just stuck in this super nikka phase and I fear it'll prevent them from making something that is truly great, instead of something that is dope but derivative. Conway gave a glimpse of what he can do on The Cow, with that emotional verse about surviving the shooting. But ever since then he's been back on his pure gangsta/scumbag shyt outside of a couple tracks.

I want to hear Benny rap about his brother more, as a brother. Not just as "my brother was a super nikka and I miss him" shyt. He raps about him like WSG and Conway do, yet he was a blood relative...come on. I just feel like a producer needs to sit him down and tell him these things. Alchemist has worked with LEGENDS. Maybe he could do it. To me the question is "do you want to be G Rap, or Nas?" G Rap is one of the greatest rappers of all time, and he mastered what I still think is the best rap flow. But his subject matter never evolved - in fact it devolved from the DJ Polo era to the solo albums. Do you want to be in your 30s, 40s, 50s...rapping about super nikka shyt? Or do you want to expand...still provide the dope gangsta shyt, but also give me some social commentary about where you come from, where you want to go, what it's like to be locked up and miss so many fatherhood related things, the struggles of being married while in the game, etc etc.

i feel you on this, and ive gotten scorched for mentioning that about G Rap. after Erase Racism breh went full mafioso for the rest of his career. still dope, but i sometimes wonder what if

this is Bennys real debut, so im willing to see where he goes from here and accept this for what it is (a legit 4 mic banger, and im stingy with ratings). hes so vivid as a writer, but seems very set in his methods. dudes a top talent so i hope he expands a lil
