Ehn, I disagree. The premise of it was fine. Everything that went on behind the scenes (as well as with fan reaction) with Avery Brooks being picked as the lead character for a Star Trek show fed into that episode's creation. No other sci-fi show could've done it, because no other sci-fi show had a black american man as the star at the time.
If that episode is a reflection of shytty treatment of Avery then I stand corrected. :hubie:

Nah but why was everybody on Deep Space Nine trying to smash Major Kira :dead:

I mean, she was hot, but it was like every other male character on the show was either smashing or trying to smash--Odo, Vedek Bareil, Shakaar, Dukat, Jake had a crush on her, Bashir had the hots for her, O'Brien had to stop himself from smashing because he was a married man.

What the hell kinda pheromones were Bajoran women giving off :wow:

She might be the 1st non-latina white latina in sci-fi. :wow:

There's a similar theme that's taken even more extreme in Octavia Butler's "The Parable of the Sower", which was written in the early 1990s and is also set in 2024. People were looking at almost a decade of Reganomics, three decades of oppressive post-Jim Crow policing, and years of dysfunction from the crack era, and could only see the situation getting worse.

There's also a cult-like political leader in the book (featured even more in the sequel) who is damn near EXACTLY like Trump. It's fukking prescient.
Yeah and he actually uses the term "make America great again" in the book. Butler died too soon.

As far as I know, he didn't catch any shyt on set, but had to fight at the end to make sure that his character didn't abandon his family, cementing the "absent black father" stereotype. It was more of a "black male lead in a series dominated by white guys" thing being rejected initially by the fandom. Dude is classically theater trained, but you still get butthurt cacs, all these years later, saying his acting was "wooden." That's their way of saying they don't like him because he was black. Did the same thing for Jamie Foxx in a few roles, too.

Bajorans were getting it IN on DS9. Even the ones you thought wouldn't were actually fukking (Kai Winn). And Jake had it bad, boy. I think my guy was trying to build him a harem. One was a dabo girl, the other a regular bajoran woman Nog chased away, and then Major Kira. I saw the vision, Jake-O. No orb of prophecy needed. :wow:

Loved when Kira told Dukat that the kid she was carrying was O'Brien's. Had buddy in a vortex at the beginning of that episode. :lolbron:

Strange New Worlds is fire. Vintage Trek. Lower Decks is funny. As someone else reminded me Prodigy is good too. New Star Trek is the only reason why I have Paramount Plus.

If they started a new SG-1 series, that would keep me as well.

I like that SNW is its own thing and lightly touches on some TNG references since they’re in the same timeline. Plus, the show ain’t about the senior officers.

We have all of these Trek series and you never see what the lower ranking staff is up to. I hope to roll out another cartoon with that same vibe. Spin off one of the Lower Decks characters and make him/her have a new life on another ship.

And I can appreciate that SNW finally gives Pike his own arc even tho it will be a dark one in the end. The show is superior to Discovery and hopefully they aren’t using the inflated ass movie budget Discovery wasted. The next couple of Trek series have to deliver. It’s just that simple.

Her death was tragic and I wish she were still around today, but even before that she had gotten writer's block and didn't know how to finish the series. I think she moved too fast trying to rush the whole thing to space. That whole world in the first book could have been two books by itself, then the second book could have been two more.

Stargate is so low end i never gave it a real shot. Movie not even that good. It got good sci fi but too much science not enough good fiction. The villains, weaponry, etc all looks corny. Canadian tv show right? It shows

Id rather watch babylon 5
