That episode belonged in another sci-fi show. Not that one. It was a good episode but never fit with the series to me.

Ehn, I disagree. The premise of it was fine. Everything that went on behind the scenes (as well as with fan reaction) with Avery Brooks being picked as the lead character for a Star Trek show fed into that episode's creation. No other sci-fi show could've done it, because no other sci-fi show had a black american man as the star at the time.

It's just that every time this ep airs on PlutoTV (an entire channel is dedicated to the series, so GO WATCH IT, ppl), I can't help but laugh when Weyoun starts dropping bombs on Sisko.

I don't think they literally thought this lol. They didn't have the budgets of today's star trek though. This is actually an example of why I hate modern trek though.

That the “tough” part about Trek is because everything aside from Enterprise occurs after the original series and looks so damn superior. At least Enterprise looks cheap because it was and they were just making their way into space as a warp capable species.

Heck even Strange New Worlds predates everything and still looks remarkable and modern.

Even if they tried they can’t make these shows look crappier than the 1960s shows so we have to suspend reality in our mind as if Kirk and the crew had the best shīt and laid the foundation for everyone else.

Meanwhile Voyager dealt with far more fųckery but can’t be looked on as a better crew than the OG Enterprise.

Breh I don’t even acknowledge Discovery anymore. How they screwed that one up is beyond me. The show looks like it’s movie quality in terms of the budget yet they found a way to ruin it with these trash scripts.

I was rocking with Sonequa but she is easily the worst Trek captain. That whole cast feels like a combo of the GLAAD awards meets the Make A Wish Foundation.

The next Trek series has to be a home run.

No more reliance on Spock (Discovery. Strange New Worlds) and let’s leave the Enterprise alone for a while and poop out some new characters (like the Cerritos and the Lower Decks cast)

Used to be a og star wars guy and i still am

But the star trek shows are all good. All of em. Plusvthey remind me of my childhood. I put next gen on every night to fall asleep. Used to come on at 7 i think in 90s. Goat show.

Og star trek has the charm the og icons
Next gen reestablishes the show and super iconic cast. Best job they coulda did as a follow up.
Ds9 has the great story and side characters.
Even voyager is enjoyable with a good array of characters.

Ds9 has the goat villain in dukat and the sides are really really strong (garak, quark, damar, kai winn, weyouns,). I like the starfleet team (sisko, bashir, obrien mostly, odo is good too, jadzia > ezri. didnt like kyra too whiney) but the og team is more iconic even if story not as strong. . Worf. Geordie. Picard. Data. Riker. Legends. And troi > jadzia, doc >> kyra.

Its a toss. I watch for diff reasons. Next gen is good for a pickup and watch rando eps. Ds9 is best ep to ep.

To me the way trek looked isn't that important overall. I do wish they would make more efforts with continuity like the used to, but it's whatever I guess. I don't watch nutrek so it doesn't matter that much to me.

The run star trek had from the second original series movie until the end of Voyager (1982-2001) is just . It's all great for different reasons. Kira went through a Holocaust lol. She was really only like that in the early seasons. By the end of the first season she realized her and Sisko were on the same side imo. Very hard for me to rank that run I was talking about because I like it all.

Of course i get it just drains you after a while. Like get this chick off my screen. All self righteous while she killing people herself. That was the point tho. Grwat character and well acted just not a likeable charactet imo. Meanwhile dukat was very likeable which is how they almost got you to root for him for a minute. The actor was mad charming while committing genocide lmao.

Ds9 is high end tv. Its just its not as rewatchable imo. I put it on here and there but its really a serialized show so you wanna watch it in order. But next gen voyager etc just so rewatchable.

Enterprise is too serious for me. Idk if i like it. Just started checking eps. Dont like the lead or the cast very much.

Stargate is so low end i never gave it a real shot. Movie not even that good. It got good sci fi but too much science not enough good fiction. The villains, weaponry, etc all looks corny. Canadian tv show right? It shows

Strange New Worlds is fire. Vintage Trek. Lower Decks is funny. As someone else reminded me Prodigy is good too. New Star Trek is the only reason why I have Paramount Plus.

If they started a new SG-1 series, that would keep me as well.
