That's even more reason to read it right, Tommy has spoken at length about her lack of citations for example so reading her work will give you an opportunity to see in real time where she's creating frames about Black men that may not be supported by data.
Yea you have a point there. If I have extra cycles I will.

@The Fade definitely. I want to speak up about it in this Slack channel but maybe I will in a Zoom session they have on their "book club". I'm in a high salary tech job so I'm not sure if I want to be too abrasive about it but it fukking pissed me off. A white guy in the Black Book Club channel mentioned her and all these Black Women cosigning it too :gucci: Are they not gonna talk to Black Men about this instead of fukking espousing gender theory on Black Men and what they THINK Black Masculinity is?!

The truth is they’re too scared to actually talk us. They grad school motherfukkers are going around and literally calling the black penis a weapon

It all comes down to the fear of Negro Rule. Google that picture. It is literally the fear that non black men have if black men have any leverage. This is what King Kong is based off of

You should go for it and make your own judgments on her since you have the book. I've read her stuff. She comes across as someone who does not understand black men or has not interacted with one, which should not make sense because she obviously has. She overly simplifies the impetus of various aspects of the black male condition as it pertains to other forms masculinity. All in all, I don't care for a lot of her stuff because there is a deep lack of understanding of black males. It would be one thing if it was here or there but it is simply too consistent to ignore after a while.

AA GANG
Bell hooks on black men in the Central Park 5 case

bell hooks on Central Park 5:

"No one can truly believe that the young black malesinvolved in the Central Park incident were not engagedin a suicidal ritual enactment of a dangerousmasculinity that will ultimately threaten their lives, their well-being. If one reads again Michael Dyson's piece "The Plight of Black Men," focusing especially on the part where he describes the reason many young black

men form gangs-"the sense of absolute belonging
and unsurpassed love"-it is easy to understand whyyoung black males are despairing and nihilistic.

And itis rather naive to think that if they do not value their own lives, they will value the lives of others. Is it really so difficult for folks to see the connection between the constant pornographic glorification of male violence against women that is represented, enacted, and condoned daily in the culture and the CentralPark crime?"

Politics" p. 106.
