Why do you excuse her lying out right by downplaying it as "says things without substantiating her claims"?
I’ve read her work. She often says things without really sourcing or explaining why she came to certain conclusions. At least in my mind

I mean she says interesting things from time to time, but she has an obvious and extreme set of biases and deeply ingrained opinions which won’t sway even in the face of facts. I want to like her for something like this discussion but her books and writings turn me off so bad.
And to be fair, she is a liar. But I don’t want to use excessively incendiary language in a semi-intellectual convo. She does bother me and so do those who promote her “scholarship”.

Yeah - it was a pretty great book. I don't take any issues with the work itself, especially in regard to sexual vulnerability and early mortality, Black men in the US have been turned into an underclass. The only thing I take issue with is Curry's belief that he's some kind of pariah - and that it is based on his theories, and not his relentless attempts to separate his writings from intersectionality.
