Oh snap, I just saw in the article they get paid for the bye weeks too. :pachaha:

Yeah teams still practice during the bye (not as many dyas tho). What about preseason and training camp? Dude earlier said a friend of his got 30k for training camp , and there's 4 preseason games so of you do the math for 21 weeks * 5700+30,000k for camp thats damn near 150k...

Okay so we got some legit figures.

Again 91K a year is not worth it to me, to take those blows. I make significantly more than that without that stress :manny:

:what:
people in HS, and College get hit far more....FOR FREE.

and again, that's a practice squad player, it's not a tackling dummy...and they aren't running full contact every day or every practice.

what stress is there to have a job where you're pushing 100k in salary, but you only "work" for a quarter of the year?

you're one of those educated dumb nikkas

State trooper at the entrance of the neighborhood. You not getting in.

@jadillac

That changes everything then. Not everyone knows the ins and outs of football. 100K would not be too bad running around for a couple of hours.

:wtb: What industry do you work in b?

There is a lot of stress to that life. Being one hit or turf toe away from unemployment. We can talk about playing it smart, but the majority do not even with significantly larger salaries. I've seen people on practice squads. I've also seen them ask me for money.

I know several dudes in the league and over 20 dudes that were on practice squads. Basically nobody on a practice squad ends up stacking their money because they're too consumed in trying to keep up with the active roster player's lifestyles. Also, most practice squad players last one year on the squad, then get cut. Guys will have to switch team to get on a practice squad again. Normally after two practice squads, its a wrap. If you stay on practice squads for 5 years you DO qualify for pension, but its EXTREMELY rare anyone lasts that long on practice squads only. ALSO, if you do work your way onto an active roster, you can never be on a practice squad again, so if youre a borderline roster guy you better show and prove.

But basically most practice squad players end up back in school after a year or two to finish their degree.

Sounds like the people I know. Let's be real. Them young brothers are not saving their money even with larger contracts. You guys really think it is different with these guys?

Church.

The money on the practice squad really ain't shyt. It's so temporary. It's the opportunity that makes it a good gig.

Whoa, a lot of you don't understand personal finances. A practice squad guy makes up to $90,000 a year. That's good for only 17 weeks of work. He's got 35 weeks where he could work another job.
The bad news is that say he just works on the practice squad, his net income is about $60,000 a year. So, like others have said, he's playing with guys driving in $100,000 cars and living in million dollar homes. With the kind of income a practice squad guy makes, he can live a comfortable middle-class life. That means a $30,000 car and $200,000 home. Big difference.

So for me, it would not be worth it. I make that much working 52 weeks a year with benefits and stuff. These guys are scrubs without contracts. You would figure they need to pay for their own medical insurance since they aren't full-time employees like a coach or team physical therapist.
