Whoa, a lot of you don't understand personal finances. A practice squad guy makes up to $90,000 a year. That's good for only 17 weeks of work. He's got 35 weeks where he could work another job.
The bad news is that say he just works on the practice squad, his net income is about $60,000 a year. So, like others have said, he's playing with guys driving in $100,000 cars and living in million dollar homes. With the kind of income a practice squad guy makes, he can live a comfortable middle-class life. That means a $30,000 car and $200,000 home. Big difference.
So for me, it would not be worth it. I make that much working 52 weeks a year with benefits and stuff. These guys are scrubs without contracts. You would figure they need to pay for their own medical insurance since they aren't full-time employees like a coach or team physical therapist.
