I know my local theater here has already pulled it from the lineup. I’d imagine they’ll probably do the same to Borderlands.
It will be close, but the name recognition will probably help Borderlands gross more.

Blake Scratches & Claws but It Ends With Husband Beating Wife by a Baby Knife: Weekend Box Office Results (Aug. 9-11)
With another $54.1M in the bank, Deadpool & Wolverine is this close to passing the $500M milestone. As it stands now Disney will just have to settle for $494.3M after 3 weeks. The $54.1M is the 12th best third weekend ever and 6th in theCI. It's just ahead of Barbie's $53M from last August. It wasn't enough to topple Disney's own Inside Out 2's $57.5M, which is the 8th best. However, Inside Out 2 had a running total of "only" $469.4M after three weekends to Deadpool & Wolverine's aforementioned $494.3M. So the Post Endgame MCU flick is actually showing stronger legs.
And we can't bury the lede anymore anymore: Deadpool & Wolverine has made $1B at the worldwide box office. It's the 11th film in the MCU to achieve the feat. It sits just $100 million behind Captain Marvel's $1.1B.
Not to be outdone by her husband was Blake Lively, AKA Mrs. Reynolds, It Ends with Us raking in and unbelievable $50M. 3 weeks ago I saw this PAWG at work reading this book. I asked her what she was reading and it was It Ends with Us. She was like "All my friends are reading it." When I saw her the next day she had already finished it and I was like, "So how was it?" She was disappointed by the ending.
So The other day we were talking and she had brought up that this movie was going to be in the theaters this weekend and I was like "oh you know maybe the ending will be better in the movie." And I'm about to ask her if she wants to go and see it with your boy. But she had mentioned how she has a boyfriend for the first time.
But I will not let this deter me. Come hell or high water, I will be pawging with this girl like Tyrese Haliburton at the Olympics. That's word to @pawglife / @Milk Man. 
In any event, this movie got in A- Cinemascore, which surprised me. I would have thought it would have got a straight A or an A+. Maybe the ending was not quite as satisfying to the audience who graded it. Nevertheless, it's the 10th best opening of the year and 14th overall.
It's the 22nd highest grossing movie released this year already outpacing Argylle's $45.2M 
and about to blow past Challengers' $50.1M.
3rd place belonged to Twisters with $15M. There have only been five movies that have made $200M dollars this year; Twisters is one of them with $222.2M. They wrangle tornadoes and they wrangle hundreds of millions of dollars.
We have another new entry in the top five, this time it's Borderlands, opening in fourth place with a putrid $8.8M.
That's despite a cast that includes Kevin Hart, Jack Black (these two were in the Jumanji movies together) Kate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis and a $110M+ production budget. All of that gets you $8.8M on opening weekend, a D+ Cinemascore and a 4.4 on IMDb. 
Despicable Me 4 rounded out the top five with $8M in its sixth weekend. It's also available to rent on pvod -- that's premium video on demand. With $330.1M and counting, it just outgrossed Oppenheimer's $329.8M. what's the connection? Both movies were given $100M production budgets and distributed by Universal. Gru and the Minions are IP and well known, so you would say that they should have the advantage but Christopher Nolan is also really well known.

Inside Out 2 is the 11th highest grossing movie at the domestic box office with $636.4M, moving past Barbie's $636.2M.
Cuckoo, Neon's other R-rated horror movie this summer, opened to $3M. It got the same C+ Cinemascore as Longlegs, neon's other R-rated horror movie this summer.
Speaking of which Longlegs passed the $70M milestone. With another $2M, It's up to $71.2M -- the 19th best total of the year. The $72.4M of Mean Girls is up next.

Husband and wife duo taking the top 2 spots is cool. Once I heard that Blake Lively film was based on a book, had a feeling it would do well. Can't imagine the budget was high.

Xenomorph Nurses Romulus to Victory: Weekend Box Office Results (Aug. 16-18)
The summer of Disney continues to roll on With the release of Alien: Romulus. When you first entry in the Alien franchise since 2017's Covenant opened with a mostly impressive $41.5M... Mostly. That's the second best opening in the Alien franchise behind Prometheus' $51M back in 2012. It's all the more impressive when you consider that this was originally a director Hulu movie in the same vein as Prey was for the Predator franchise. I'd imagine that thanks to the success of Prey on Hulu, we were able to get Romulus in theaters. With a B+ CinemaScore, it's the best reviewed in the franchise since Aliens' straight A in 1986.
Hopefully that means the Xenomorph legs will be long.
Deadpool & Wolverine continues to rake in the moola with another $29M in its 4th weekend. That's only $1.3M behind Inside Out 2's 4th weekend. With $545.8M and counting, Deadpool & Wolverine is actually $12.7M ahead of Inside Out 2's $534.1M. Inside Out 2 is up to $642M, so Deadpool & Wolverine could be looking at upwards of $650M+ by the time it's all said and done. Oh, and I almost forgot, it also just became the highest grossing R-rated movie ever globally with a $1.1B global box office, surpassing Joker's $1B.
It Ends with Us didn't let up with $24M in its second frame. It's already made $97.7M. That ranks 13th this year. It just passed Bob Marley: One Love $96.8M and The Fall Guy $92.9M. That's crazy that this is going to crack $100M when The Fall Guy couldn't despite having what we assume to be were more bankable stars in Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt. I know it's based off of a best-selling book, but even still, it's surprising.
Coming in 4th again was Twisters -- which I just saw -- with $9.8M. I got to say I really enjoyed it and would have been cool to see it in 4DX if I actually had a theater near me.
Oh, and this shyt had the new Superman in it, playing an MIT slimeball. 
And it's on-demand, still making damn near $10M. Very impressive. I don't think anybody saw $238.4M and counting coming from the reboot. It really is an EF5

Taking fifth place was a blast from the past -- Coraline -- with $8.3M in its 15 year anniversary re-release. This is a movie that I've always wanted to watch but still haven't. I don't know if anybody has any movies like that. Could be a good thread. What are some movies that you've always wanted to watch but haven't; why haven't you? In any event, that brings Coraline's total gross to $86.5M.

In its second week, Cuckoo, only made $866K. Neon gotta be more than a lil disappointed with that 71% dropoff.
On the other hand, Neon is thrilled with Longlegs continued longevity. Don't ask me how. With $721K in its 6th week, its $72.9M running total is the 19th highest total of the year. Migration made $73.2M of its $127.3M this year, and is the next birthday girl to fall.

I won’t lie—after seeing how Blake Lively promoted It Ends With Us, I genuinely thought it was a romantic comedy, so you can imagine my shock when I found out it’s actually a serious film about domestic violence and abuse. They really took a weird route with the advertising for that one.

Xenomorph Thought it Killed Deadpool & Wolverine But Forgot About Their Healing Factor: Weekend Box Office Results (Aug. 23-25)
The summer of Disney continues with Deadpool & Wolverine reclaiming the top spot this weekend with $18.3M. That gives Disney the number one movie for 9 weekends of the summer:
- Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (1x)
- Inside Out 2 (3x)
- Deadpool & Wolverine (now 4x)
- Alien: Romulus (1x)
With its $577.2M Domestic box office, Deadpool & Wolverine is the Disney's 9th highest grossing film ever. It's the sixth highest grossing film in the MCU, trailing The Avengers' $623.3M. If it can maintain its current pace, which is just ahead of Inside Out 2's $571.8M after 5 weekends, then it should be able to pass The Avengers and move into the top five all-time for the MCU.
That means that the xenomorph and Alien: Romulus were knocked from their nest down to second place with $16.2M. That's a 61% tumble from last weekend. Thank God Deadpool & Wolverine was there to pick up the slack cuz I can't imagine that was the kind of hold Disney was looking for. With a $72.6M running total, Romulus is the fifth highest grossing Alien film, just behind Alien: Covenant's $74.2M. It has yet to make back its $80M production budget. Despite that, it just cracked the top 20 at the domestic box office this year, moving ahead of Mean Girls' $72.4M.
It Ends with Us made $11.8M to take 3rd place. Despite never being #1 in any of its 3 weekends (it's had 5 #1 dailies) it's totaled $120.8M, the 11th most this year. If it wants to enter the top 10, it'll need to quietly chop down A Quiet Place: Day One and its $138.9M.
We have a new entry, Blink Twice, opening in fourth place with $7.3M. And it was a wide releasing over 3,000 theaters.
This was Zoe Kravitz directorial debut. It stars her fiance, Channing Tatum. It's got a great cast that includes Adria Arjona (baddest Latina out)
Doesn't look like the moviegoers were.
Fifth place went to The Forge, with $6.6M. What is the forge? It's a faith-based movie primarily starring brothas and sistas, though written and directed by two white brothers.

The re-release of Coraline has made $24M after another $5M this weekend. It's the 40th highest total of the year. Some new releases it's beat out:
- The Bikeriders: $21.7M
- The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare: $20.5M
- Fly Me to the Moon: $20.4M
- The First Omen: $20M

I thought Romulus would be #1 for at least a couple weeks, but it seems the international crowd is still showing up big for it. Wanted to see it in IMAX, but wasn't playing at my nearest one for some reason.

Borderlands was king of the flops for two weeks until the Crow dropped. Now Megalopolis about to take the crown.Rough summer for Lionsgate. Good thing they got a masterpiece that will be remembered for decades in Megalopolis set to crush the buildings next month.
